Safety plays an increasingly important role due to the growing amount of traffic on urban streets. However, safety does not necessarily have to be boring. To emphasize this, ISPO BIKE features exhibits with future- and lifestyle-oriented accessories. In addition, there are a variety of anti-theft solutions.

Safety in the traffic environment is an important subject. GTC Germany offers a solution with the Blinker Glove. It allows cyclists to visibly indicate turns even in the dark, without taking the chance of being overlooked. Operation is simple: the cyclist stretches his/her arm out and closes an electrical circuit by touching the tips of the glove's thumb and middle finger together. The two LEDs on the tip of the index finger begin to blink and then shut off automatically after about 30 seconds. This allows the rider to concentrate on traffic without being distracted. The Blinker Glove was introduced to members of the police force and traffic enforcement, as well as 100 customers for trial. The feedback was integrated into the development. Furthermore, the glove is "Made in Germany".

Getting there safely is one issue. The other is keeping your bicycle safe. The Austrian company Innovametall developed SafetyDock, a completely new all-in-one infrastructure solution for electro-motor assisted bicycles. It is a comprehensive locker system with integrated e-charging feature. The system is user-friendly and provides a high level of service and safety standards. In addition, it offers plenty of room to store bike accessories such as helmet, backpack, child seat, etc. But how does it work? Simply insert a card (debit, credit, or employee ID card) for identification, next an LED display on the door will show which SafetyDock is free. Stow your e-bike and connect it to the charger. The SafetyDock locks automatically keeping your bike safe against potential theft. Upon return the card is inserted once again, the applicable parking fee is deducted, the bike released - and you simply ride away.

Two in one: innovative bike computer and ant-theft solution. The BikeLogger L is the world's first bike computer able to receive signals from a hub dynamo, taking precise measurements of speed, pedaling frequency, distance and time. With the help of the integrated Bluetooth Smart Technology the data can be displayed and analyzed on a smartphone or tablet. The free BikeLogger app for iOS is already available. The Android app will celebrate its premier at ISPO BIKE. A unique feature is the anti-theft alarm. BikeLogger will activate the smartphone's alarm feature as soon as the bike is moved only a few inches.

Kalkhoff's bicycle models offer plenty of safety. The manufacturer's new Impulse System offers the world's first better-adjusted and softer braking system; due to a shortened pedal angle the e-bike rider can apply the brake faster, which allows considerably faster reaction in dangerous situations. The improved motor control results in a completely new riding experience, as the boosted acceleration in the power mode ensures increased safety and control while riding. Night owls will appreciate the newly developed lighting system: a safety taillight with integrated brake light function as well as a 80-lux LED headlight with daylight running and parking light exclusively developed for Kalkhoff is part of the standard accessories available on mid-range to high-end Kalkhoff e-bikes.

Melon invented the new helmet category "Urban Active Helmet" and satisfies all requirements for safety and use in an urban environment thanks to a specially developed retro design combined with hi-tech construction. In addition to a high level of quality, safety, comfort and design the Melon helmets are also among the lightest in their class. With only 250 grams in size S these helmets are lightweights among full-shell helmets. The shell is made of an extra strong polycarbonate cast using lightweight construction in-mold technology. Ventilation slots across the head's entire longitudinal axis ensure plenty of airflow. A durable adjustment wheel on the back and foam padding made of Coolmax fabric in three different thicknesses ensure the perfect fit. Thanks to magnetic fasteners the helmet can conveniently be buckled with just one hand.
