Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics to relocate to Shanghai in 2014

After undertaking an in-depth programme of market research and interviews with stakeholders in various sectors, the organisers of the Intertextile Apparel Fabrics fairs have decided that Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics will now be held in Shanghai starting in 2014 and will take place from 3 – 5 March. The fair will be renamed to Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition and will be relocated to the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. The Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition will remain unchanged.

The first Intertextile was held in 1995, and over this time, the fair has become known for its high international exhibitor and visitor participation. It is now widely seen as the leading apparel fabrics and accessories fair in the world, and since its inception has continually expanded, with both spring and autumn editions together now covering around 200,000 sqm.

Located at the centre of the Yangtze River Delta textile manufacturing hub, Shanghai is in an ideal geographical location to host a trade fair of this nature. "In addition to the added convenience for local suppliers, a strong overseas visitor and exhibitor presence is expected due to the large numbers of international textile companies who have offices in the city and manufacturing plants in surrounding areas, " says Ms Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. As well as its geographical advantages, Shanghai also features modern convention and exhibition facilities and a well-established hospitality sector that caters to significant numbers of international visitors each year.

Another positive aspect of the relocation is the change of date. "Having the fair in Shanghai allows us to hold it in the first half of March, which is the preference of our stakeholders as this is the peak sourcing time in spring, " Ms Wen said. "We are sure that this added convenience will lead to more opportunities for both exhibitors and visitors at the fair."

In addition to the new location, the show also marks its 20 years since 1995. 20 years is not only a major milestone but also a new beginning for this edition of the fair. The organisers are confident that this strategic relocation will provide a higher level of service for all exhibitors and visitors, and look forward to a successful event in 2014.
