Heimtextil International Trade Fair for Home and Contract Textiles

Where next is now! – with this new slogan and high registration rates, even at this early stage Heimtextil is setting a high benchmark for the upcoming season. Nearly seven months prior to the beginning of the international trade fair for home and contract textiles (8 through 11 January 2014), the high number of registrations is very promising: "The textile industry continues to rely on Heimtextil for impetus at the beginning of the year, " explains Olaf Schmidt, Vice President of Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt. "The large number of registrations we have received so far and, in particular, the fact that so many prominent European manufacturers again will exhibit here show that industry leaders around the world are convinced of Heimtextil's portfolio and global attractiveness." Registrations for the trade fair have increased continuously over the past years, a clear sign of the steady upward trend.

Moreover, Hall 3.1 continues to be extremely well received. "Jobs in the booming crafts sector are in high demand, a fact that has been demonstrated recently by the large number of registrations received from renowned returning companies. We are extremely satisfied with the acceptance so far, " says Ulrike Wechsung, Director of Home Textiles. Already Chivasso, Erfurt and Zimmer+Rohde, three top-level organisations in the wallpaper segment, have announced their return. As in the past, German companies include A.S. Création and Rasch. Furthermore, other editeurs from their direct environment again have registered for participation: Diabolo and N.V. Wind of Belgium and Clarke & Clarke of Great Britain, Dedar of Italy and Alhambra Internacional of Spain. In Hall 3.0, the Deco Team made up of Alfred Apelt, Gardisette, HECO Textilverlag, Höpke, Porschen, Sonnhaus, Stoeckel & Grimmler and Unland will showcase its extensive traditional presentation.

Fabrics from Belgium and Italy
The product offerings displayed in Hall 4.1 will be extended by Belgium-based decoration and furniture textile specialist Deltracon. Similar to a series of top Italian producers – among them Alois Tessitura Serica, Para, Pienostile, Pozzi Arturo and Viganò – Deltracon has exhibited at Heimtextil repeatedly. Yet another highlight from Italy: the Consorzio Promozione Tendaggio group made up of Casalegno Tendaggi, Clerion, Fiorete Group, Giber, Manifattura Fossa Divisione della Danzo, Mario Cavelli and Sirio Tendaggi will exhibit its premium-class fabrics.

In the "sun" product segment in Hall 5.1, Decorail of Belgium will join the exhibitors for the first time; Maron of Switzerland has exhibited a number of times and will return again in January. Further exhibitors in this segment include Erfal, Gardinia Home Decor, Kadeco, Liedeco, MHZ and Teba of Germany, as well as Coulisse of the Netherlands.

Hall 8: best booking rates in years
In 2014, participation in the household textiles segment by European companies again will be strong; British, Italian and Spanish businesses will use the sales opportunities offered by Heimtextil, the leading international trade fair. The United States also will be well represented by companies including Protect-A-Bed, and yarn and textile manufacturer Invista. Excellent booking rates also have been recorded for Hall 8 and the "bed" and "bath" product groups. "Bookings are the best in years. Virtually all of the major bedding product brands will be exhibited, giving Heimtextil another boost, " confirms Meike Kern, Director of Household Textiles. Davilla of Switzerland and Merchant Icing of Austria will complement next year's Heimtextil.

Escada, Joop!Living and Möve Frottana will return
There is positive news for Hall 11 as well: in addition to Möve Frottana of Germany, Arli Group of the Netherlands, David Fussenegger of Austria, Erbelle Spirit with the Escada brand in Germany and Grund of the Czech Republic have announced their return to Heimtextil. Moreover, Joop!Living will be represented with its own stand in Hall 11.0. First-time attendees will include Bedeck of Great Britain and House in Style of the Netherlands. In addition, international premium brands such as Cawö, Esprit (represented by Kitan), Kleine Wolke, Pichler and Sander of Germany, as well as Vossen of Austria have come on board. Registrations from diverse premium manufacturers already have been obtained for Hall 11.1 as well – Curt Bauer of Germany, Fischbacher and Schlossberg of Switzerland and Kas of Australia, to name only a few highlights. The newcomer platform New & Next will provide fresh design ideas and set accents in the household textiles market with its trendy innovations.

Revenues – a sign of a worldwide reversal
While to start the season national and international businesses rely on the impetus provided by Heimtextil, the leading international trade fair, the textile industry continues to develop in a heterogeneous manner. On behalf of the German trade sector, the German Association of Textile Retailers has reported positive figures for 2012. According to the official 2012 statistics, household textiles and bulk goods recorded an increase of 0.9 percent while curtains, carpets and wallpapers have grown by as much as 2 percent. In contrast, according to the association, in 2013 business had a weaker start – -5.9 and, respectively, -4.5 percent at the end of March. A reason to be optimistic regarding an economic turnaround has been provided by a study on global economic growth between 2005 and 2014 conducted by the World Trade Organisation (WTO). For 2013, experts expect an upswing in diverse business sectors including the textile and garment markets. According to the WTO, the development in sales over the past year – from -8 to -1 percent – is a sign of recovery.
