World of model making on the shores of Lake Constance

Faszination Modellbau Friedrichshafen is opening from 1 Nov 2012 to 4 Nov 2012 in Friedrichshafen Germany. For four days the Friedrichshafen fairground will be a hive of activity: planes and boats, cars and trains, diggers and excavators - wherever you look wheels in motion.

Faszination Modellbau Friedrichshafen will be an exhibition of products linked to the field of railway gauge, computer system solutions, Scale Models & Spare Parts, Model Trading and Shipping. Its importance can easily be recognized by the past participation of over 45,000 visitors and over 350 renowned exhibitors including manufacturers and small scale providers with their high-quality products and services.

The air show "Stars of the Year" with the world's best model pilots is already legendary. At this year's show: the current model helicopter world champion from Japan. His style of flying turns planes into break-dancers defying all laws of physics.

Global innovations
This year one of the world's largest cardboard models will be on show for the first time in Friedrichshafen. At over 8 ft in length, the model ship "Bismarck" is a real eye-catcher.

Another world first is Harald Schahl's motorcycle racecourse, which portrays every detail of the racing procedure in accurate scale. This requires a great number of mechanical solutions and perfect timing in all technical processes.

Winged works of art
For the first time, a special exhibition shows the most extraordinary aircraft models ever built. This includes flying sunflowers, flying boats, and also other creations that you would not believe could stay in the air, but they do.

Impressive gauges
A model railway layout in gauge 1 from Ingolstadt will be on public display for the first time. This 'premier gauge' is becoming increasingly popular. The Rocky Mountain Steamers show a railway in gauge IIm, fired with real coal. They attach great importance to exact detail in their hand-made models and for the first time will bring over 40 locomotives to Friedrichshafen.
At Faszination Modellbau you will find an exceptional display of Europe's finest model railways in various gauges.

Smoke on the water
A drilling rig catches fire on the boat pool. Large scale operation for the lifeboat crew! Just a short distance from the pool is the exhibition stand of the Lake Constance Friends of Historic Shipbuilding. This year they are celebrating their 20th anniversary with special activities, for example a demonstration of how ropes are made or the elaborate rigging of a historical ship, how cannons are cast and small figures carved. And finally they will reveal the secret of how the ship gets into the bottle.

At "Kids Wharf" children aged 7 to 16 and their parents can build a little sailing boat and try it out on the pool, and also acquire their Captain's certificate for model motorboats.
Visitors can delve into a true-to-life miniature world, enchanted by the stunning landscapes of the many model railway layouts that will again be on show.

Powerful earthmoving
180 m³ of soil will be moved around, moulded and worked by model diggers and excavators during the four days of the fair on the various truck layouts. There will be an unbelievable array of model trucks and construction vehicles. Special features this year are the snowcats and the military layout.

Innovative indoor flight models
Over 100 model aircraft, some of them bizarre, some of them record-breaking lightweights, will fly in the light-flooded indoor area at the West entrance. No topic is technically more innovative or full of fantasy, no show more acrobatic than flying in a confined space. The audience will be fascinated by these artistic pilots.

Exciting RC car races
The AMT Bodensee Cup boasts contestants from all over Europe. The best drivers will compete for the coveted trophy.
There will also be a show of remote controlled motorbikes running spectacular races. We are expecting Edi Winter, the fastest man in the world at the moment when it comes to steering an RC bike around a corner.

Indestructible giants in the atrium
The huge four-wheeled racing cars that thunder over the roughest terrain with their combustion engines of up to 25 cm³ are more or less indestructible. Their drivers go to extremes to win the sensational off-road races!
