Texworld turns 15 and Messe Frankfurt France is 10 years old already

There will be a myriad of colourful candles, sparkles and confetti at the rendezvous in celebration of 15 years of Texworld and 10 years of Messe Frankfurt France this coming September.

Texworld was established by Daniel Rubinstein in 1997 with the aim of showcasing non-European weavers' products in Paris, and to simplify procurement for international buyers who wanted to diversify their sourcing in the traditional countries for textiles like Turkey, India, China and Pakistan. Since then, the show has grown, diversified and evolved each season.

For 15 years, Texworld has serviced international fashion and professionals in the textiles sector and has given new dynamic and impulse to the European world of fashion. Buyers were especially appreciative of Texworld and the new international offer, which was lacking in Paris. Thanks to the sound structure and momentum instilled by the team at Messe Frankfurt France as the new owner of the show, it has been possible to promote the strengths of Texworld to fashion designers, ready-to-wear labels, trend agencies and colleges of fashion.

Openness and a bold approach have contributed greatly to the success of the exhibition for over 15 years, for example:

· the choice of Louis Gérin and Grégory Lamaud, graduates of the Esmod school and the designers behind the Les Garçons label, as the artistic directors,

· its avant-garde role: the exhibition backed eco-friendly textiles very early on,

· support for young designers in cooperation with Esmod International,

· sponsoring of the Dinard Festival of Young Fashion Designers which has been very inspiring

Now a benchmark as a business platform and new source for inspiration, the exhibition continues to show its innovative strengths and provides solutions for the changes taking place in the sector.

Today with the increase in outdoor activities and brands for casual wear and sportswear, functional fabrics are at the very heart of fashion. The new casual wear, loungewear and outdoor collections require easy-care textiles with a variety of functional properties that are resilient.

Texworld, with almost fifty exhibitors in the My Casual View section offers an excellent selection of functional and traditional fabrics, and some are also eco-friendly: cotton, polycottons, polyester blends, nylon.

The arrival of new exhibitors specialising in functional textiles as well as the return of Taiwan Eco Textiles from last September will together further expand the offer of functional fabrics at Texworld.

Among the new exhibitors, are some companies with exceptionally high-quality collections, such as:

Toray Sakai Weaving, a subsidiary of the Japanese weaver Toray, based in Nantong, China offers a complete spectrum of fashion and clothing: sportswear, casual wear, active wear, underwear and swimwear for men, women and children and corporate wear.

Very sophisticated in terms of research and development, the company has a wide variety of products. For example:

- Drysensor with a broad selection in 100% polyester or polyester blends, with a silky feel and absorbent, breathable and quick-dry properties, ideally suited for womenswear and for loungewear.

- TorayDelfy with 100% cotton and polyester or cotton/polyester blends: weatherproof, breathable and liquid-repellent but extremely soft thanks to a special coating.

The company is in the process of developing ecologically sound production. It can already count Patagonia, Columbia and Nike, for example, as reference brands among its customers.

ChungWoo Textile Co Ltd from South Korea already exports half its production to Europe and the United States. Along with other weavers, such as AB Industries and TL Corporation, the Chungwoo Textile Co Ltd will be exhibiting at the Korean Textile Centre (KTC), a national association supporting the textile industry, which has had a pavilion at Texworld on numerous occasions.

Its collection is aimed at menswear, womenswear and children's wear. The company concentrates on cotton blends: cotton/nylon, cotton/polyester/nylon, cotton/spandex. Watch out for the 45% cotton / 55% nylon blend, 178g and matt-coated, which will appeal to buyers for its look, the way it drapes and its versatility for clothing and accessories. Gap, Vera Bradley and Marks&Spencer have already taken up products from them.

Buyers will be delighted by the return of Taiwan Eco Textiles, which ranks among the top suppliers for eco-friendly functional textiles. With around ten eco-friendly companies, it will present the best in creativity from Taiwan that is both technical and ecologically sound.

Polyester obtained through the collection and processing of plastic bottles (PET) is one of the key areas of special expertise of the Taiwanese weavers. Once again it will be at the centre of the range on account of its anti-odour, breathable and absorbent qualities. New fabrics based on maize fibre and recycled coffee grounds will also be there to be (re)discovered! These green functional textiles from Taiwan have already won over brands like JC Penney, BCBG, Calvin Klein, Juicy Couture, H&M and manufacturers like Nike, Puma, North Face.
