GREENshowroom to be held during Berlin Fashion Week

Green will be the colour du jour throughout the coming Berlin Fashion Week: Between 18 and 20 January 2012, the exclusive eco-fashion trade fair GREENshowroom will once again be showcasing the cream of unique fashion and lifestyle labels produced by ecologically and socially responsible means.

In the luxurious surroundings of Berlin's five-star Adlon Kempinski Hotel, which will be playing host to the GREENshowroom for the fifth time, trade visitors and press representatives can discover the new Autumn/Winter 12/13 creations by international green brands from the upmarket segment. These brands include prestigious names such as Wellicious, Schmidttakahashi, Materia Prima, Kaska Hass, Atelier Laure Paschoud, Atlantic Leather, the rooters, STUDIO ECOCENTRIC, Hanna felting, Sonja Heymann, Kaschuba Hommage and RoyalBLUSH – the label owned by GREENshowroom co-founder Jana Keller.

This season, the GREENshowroom has an attractive new name on board: ethical fashion label Stewart+Brown is synonymous with ecological materials and sustainable, socially responsible production and was presented with the WGSN Global Fashion Award in October 2011. As one of the pioneers of the modern green fashion movement, Stewart+Brown was among the first labels to combine ecologically sound and fair production with high-quality, trend-oriented design.

The highlight of the event is the GREENshowroom salon show for specially invited guests, where selected GREENshowroom designers present the highlights of their collections on 19 January 2012. The event also caters for the general public: the adjoining GREENshop, which also takes place in Hotel Adlon, features a prime selection of first-class designs for socially conscious consumers who are interested in sustainable lifestyle and attractive products. This season, the GREENshop is being coordinated for the first time together with the Esmod Berlin fashion university, which initiated its first international masters course focusing on sustainability in fashion.

Parallel to the GREENshowroom, its partner event Ethical Fashion Show Berlin made its debut as an independent fair in the city's "ewerk" event location. The Ethical Fashion Show Berlin focuses on sustainable street fashion and casual wear. In the last season, it was held as part of the GREENshowroom in Hotel Adlon and is now taking place for the first time as a stand-alone event. In this way, Messe Frankfurt – as the organiser of both events – is helping to solidify Berlin's reputation as a centre for green fashion as well as reflecting the different segments within the sector.

On all three event days, the GREENshowroom (Hotel Adlon Kempinski) and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin (ewerk) will be linked by a shuttle service with the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Pariser Platz.
