Designer Christmas tree by Jean-Paul Gaultier at Christmasworld

Christmas and design go hand-in-hand. From creative Christmas baubles and trendy colours to new and extraordinary materials, Christmas offers a multitude of opportunities to put personal ideas and plans into practice. The 'Association Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs' has been making good use of this potential for some 16 years now and, every year, invites international personalities from the worlds of fashion, architecture and design to create their own personal Christmas tree, which are then auctioned for a good cause at an exclusive charity event in Paris.

The collaboration between Christmasworld and the 'Association Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs' will be reflected by an extraordinary project in 2012 when 'Les Sapins de Noël & Christmasworld' presents the designer Christmas tree of Jean-Paul Gaultier on an attractive special area of Hall 11.1 during Christmasworld. During the fair, exhibitors and visitors will be able to take part in a raffle for the tree at the end of the event.

This is also the aim of the event in Paris. This year, the organiser of 'Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs', Marie Christiane Marek, has already been able to sign up fashion labels and designers, such as Chanel, Diane von Fürstenberg, Dior, Pierre Hermé, Stella McCartney and Trussardi, and many other renowned names from the fashion and design scene. Altogether, the organisers expect to receive 30 Christmas trees. There are no creative limits on the designers when it comes to creativity. The trees will be auctioned at a gala charity event in Paris on 5 December 2011 and the proceeds donated to the 'Association pour la Vie-Espoir contre le Cancer (A.V.E.C.)', a charity founded by Professor David Khayat to fight cancer in children.

In addition to Christmasworld, two other Messe Frankfurt events, Texworld and the Ethical Fashion Show, are participating in the 'Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs' charity event. French fashion designer and grande dame of lingerie fashions, Chantal Thomass, will create an exclusive Christmas tree for the international Texworld textile show based on her interpretation of the new slogan of the event, 'My Texworld'. The Christmas tree sponsored by the Ethical Fashion Show will be created by tomorrow's leading designers, students of the international Esmod art academy. The focus of the Ethical Fashion Show is on environmentally friendly fabrics. The academy is cooperating with Messe Frankfurt with the aim of integrating ethical fashions into its curriculum and thus promoting sustainability in the fashion industry. All designer Christmas trees will be on show in Hotel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris from 1 to 7 December.
