“Red dot” design award and Cannes Corporate Media & TV Award for Messe Frankfurt

Messe Frankfurt is to receive the "red dot" design award in the "Communication Design" category and the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Award in the "Internal Communications" category for its "In sight" book and film project on the company's corporate design. The panels of judges were won over by the outstanding design quality and the original approach to the subject of corporate design.

"In sight" examined the essence of Messe Frankfurt's corporate design and the people who shape it. The unique nature of the communication was due to the unusual perspectives taken and the protagonists talking to the observer directly. With a lot of wit and charm, references are made to everyday situations; the sheer diversity of the company's activities is demonstrated through a series of impressive images. The wide variety of individuals who work for the trade fair organiser – from hall managers and designers to Executive Board members – reveal what Messe Frankfurt means to them. The photos and film sequences were shot on the exhibition grounds. The project was developed together with designer Alessio Leonardi, and the film was produced by Filmstyler, a Frankfurt-based production company.

The red dot design award claims to be the world's largest design competition. Formerly known as Industrieform e.V., the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen has been singling out outstanding design since 1954. The coveted "red dot" has since established itself as an internationally recognised seal of quality and is awarded in a variety of disciplines, based on criteria such as originality, emotional quality, design quality and concision. The initiator and CEO of red dot is Professor Peter Zec. This year, there have been over 6, 400 submissions from 40 countries, 698 of which will be awarded prizes by the panel of judges.

The winners will be presented with their awards in Berlin Concert Hall on 7 October 2011. The prize-winning submissions will be showcased as part of a special exhibition titled "Design on stage – winners red dot award: communication design 2011" from 7 to 16 October in 's Alte Münze event venue.

"In sight" is to receive another prize at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in October. In the "Internal Communications" category, the film is among those who will receive a Silver Dolphin, Gold Dolphin or Grand Prix award.

All winners of the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards will be announced at Palm Beach Cannes on 13 October. 82 projects were selected from a total of 410 submissions from 27 countries to be presented with a Dolphin Award.
