Surf Expo September show poised to be largest in years

Boasting more than 180,000 square feet of exhibit space, Surf Expo, which was recognized last year by Expo Magazine as one of America's fastest-growing shows is on track to break previous records.

"We are heading for an incredible Surf Expo, " says Roy Turner, show director. "Our 2011 show is going to be more than ten-percent larger than last year's show, making us the largest trade show dedicated to water sports and water lifestyle in the world."

Other early indicators also point to an excellent September 8-10, 2011 show at the Orange County Convention Center. Individual retailer registration is up 14% while store registrations are up 16%. Surf Expo continues to deliver new business opportunities as seen by the 23% increase in first-time buyers to the show. Hotel room night booking are also up 44% over the same week last year.

Exhibit space for the show's first Board Demo Day at the Orlando Watersports Complex, September 7, noon - 6 pm, is sold out.

In addition to industry stalwarts like Quiksilver, Billabong, Hurley, O'Neill, Rip Curl and Vans, the September line-up features 225 first-time exhibitors to Surf Expo such as Hippy Tree, Freewaters, Schtank Skateboards, Star Kites, Seattle Sports and Rum Therapy.

The show's special events include the 8th Annual Wake Awards, AWSI's Kiteboarder of the Year Awards, Body Glove/PADI Movie Premiere "Drop Zone Fiji, " on-floor wakeboarding contests, SUP Demo Pool, and a 5, 000-gallon Free Dive demo tank with sessions by leading freediver Mike Wells and appearances by dive record-holder Martin Stepanek.
