Renexpo at the heart of the energy revolution

The 12th international energy trade fair Renexpo will take place from September 22nd-25th, 2011 in the Messe Augsburg. The Renexpo will provide over 350 exhibitors the opportunity to present a comprehensive overview of the newest developments in regenerative energy production, intelligent energy distribution and energy efficiency. This year's event will once again bring together over 14,000 decision makers, investors and stakeholders from all over Europe. Over 1,000 participants are expected to attend the conference. The top themes at this year's event include mini and micro cogeneration, wood energy and wood gasification, short rotation forestry, large heat pumps, micro heating grids and sustainable power grids.

One of the highlights at this year's Renexpo is the cogeneration section. More than 30 companies will be exhibiting this year at the leading forum of the cogeneration sector. The forum has grown to become the largest European exhibition of the cogeneration industry, covering the entire range of cogeneration issues from mini and micro cogeneration units for single family homes to large combined heat and power plants for public buildings, local and district heating grids and virtual power plants with examples from actual projects. "The industry is experiencing a boom, " notes Elisabetta Alberti, project manager of the Renexpo.

Wood energy is another leading topic of the trade fair. Exhibitors at this year's event include ETA Heiztechnik, Georg Fischer, HDG, KWB and SHT Salzburg. The trade fair will present the entire value chain of wood energy, from innovations in forestry to the newest ovens and stoves. The open air area will also feature live demonstrations of chainsaws and large wood chippers.

The RENEXPO will of course also showcase the traditionally popular areas of energy production through photovoltaics and solar thermics, heat pumps, hydropower and wind energy. Industry leaders such as Viessmann, Vaillant, Bosch Thermotechnik, Stiebel Eltron and ENERCON will return to the trade fair again this year.

The section on energy efficiency and the efficient use of energy includes the topics of building and renovating sustainable buildings. The main focal points of the exhibition in the building area cover building components of sustainable architecture such as insulation, timber construction and passive houses. Other key issues include energy efficient heating, air-conditioning and ventilation. Siemens AG will be on site to present their smart home solutions for an energy efficient household.

The energy supply of the future is a vital issue for society. Everyone agrees that we are in the midst of an energy revolution. Industries, communities and individual citizens must all work together to find a solution for creating sustainable energy in the future. The largest power companies such as E.ON AG, Lechwerke AG or erdgas schwaben GmbH are stepping up to the challenge and will be at the Renexpo to present their cutting edge solutions for power production.

The Renexpo also offers a platform for the next generation looking to make an impact in the area of renewable energies. The KUMAS forum "Job and Training" presents a current overview of the job market in the future oriented energy sector and invites all who are interested to a personal discussion on the opportunities available.

In addition to the technological solutions presented at the Renexpo, the event also covers the issues surrounding financing, subsidies and insurance. Representatives from the KfW-Bankengruppe will be on site to discuss different subsidies and financing options for certain energy projects.

The international appeal of the event can be seen at the high-profile conferences such at the "5th Conference on Decentralized Mini and Micro Cogeneration", the "11th International BBE Conference for Wood Energy"and the workshop "Chemical Clean-Tech innovations from Shandong and Bavaria".

This year will feature the premiere of the conferences "Sustainable Power Grids", "(Large) Heat Pumps and Heating Grids" and "P3 Photovoltaics for Professional Users" (in German). Two conferences aimed specifically at local communities are also part of the conference program: the "1st Symposium on the Sustainability of Local Authorities" and the "Practical Seminar on Energy Saving Contracting for Public Buildings".

The Renexpo is supported by over 50 trade associations including the Bundesverband Bioenergie, the Bundesverband Kraft-Wärme-Kopplung, the Bunderverband Windenergie, the Camera di Commercio Italiana Monaco di Baviera and the Bundesverband Wärmepumpe. The opening speech will be given by State Minister Helmut Brunner.
