Carat brings key-players together in Frankfurt

Jewellery is the gift idea that is suitable for every occasion. Whether it be a necklace, ring, earring or bracelet, costume or fine jewellery, for a birthday, wedding anniversary or Christmas, jewellery always makes the perfect present. At Tendence, the most important trend and ordering platform in the second half of the year, more than 250 exhibitors will be showing their latest jewellery collections and innovations as well as offering the visitor an outlook over the trends of the coming season. From 26 to 30 August 2011, Carat will once again turn into the centre of the jewellery business. This is the meeting place for key players plus all the young creative designers at 'Talents' and 'Next'. Along with the above, topics of current relevance to the sector will be discussed in the 'Carat on Stage!' lecture area.

Last year, just on 5,000 participants registered for the 'Upgrade Package' for jewellery buyers to take advantage of the additional value offered by the package. This shows that the right target group was being addressed. And this is why Tendence 2011 is continuing the offer of its 'Upgrade' for jewellery buyers this year.

Among other things, 'Upgrade' is offering jewellery buyers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland an invitation to Tendence that includes the use of local public transport. Participants also benefit from the Starter Package, including an exclusive booklet of vouchers for services provided by exhibitors and partners, as well as the Tendence catalogue. And then there is the 'Upgrade' area where participants have the opportunity to relax and network and to listen to top-flight speakers in the 'Carat on stage!' lecture area who will be talking about topics relevant to the business.

Whether it be concepts for product presentations, the right customer approach or a convincing service offer, using the right communication and marketing strategies awakens the customer's interest and creates customer loyalty. Professional knowledge relating to these and many other exciting topics will be the focus of the 'Carat on Stage!' lecture area. Every day, from Friday 26 August to Tuesday 30 August, top-flight speakers will deliver information on topics like jewellery trends, sales talks or manufacturing methods in the jewellery industry.

On Sunday, 28 August, 'Carat on Stage' will provide the setting for the European Academy for Jewellers, Goldsmiths and Silversmiths (Europäische Akademie FBZ), Ahlen, to present its awards to the winners of its design competition, which focuses on works made using fairly produced and traded gems and materials. Also to be found in Hall 9.3 Stand B72 is the 'Jewellery: Fair for All' exhibition.

Together with its members, the German Arts & Crafts Association (Bundesverband Kunsthandwerk) will be present in the Carat product segment. As in previous years, the association has organised the 'Form' competition, which awards prizes to products that show developments and innovations in the field of high-quality industrial and crafted products. The most innovative products will be exhibited in the 'Form' special area. Works that take an especially creative approach or have been executed to an exceptionally high standard have good chances of winning the Hessian State Award for German Arts & Crafts. The award presentation will be held on Monday 29 August.

Another highlight is the 'Philipp-BeckerAreal', an exclusive meeting point for top-class jewellery. Along with gem expert Fritz M. G. Wilshaus, other top names among the suppliers will present striking creations and unique pieces of jewellery.

This year, the Personal Accessories product segment will be presented in Hall 9.2, making it even easier for trade visitors to take advantage of the synergies generated by the two segments. Jewellery and individual gift ideas like belts, bags and sunglasses can now be found immediately next to one another.
