International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad

The International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, held from 14th to 21st May, is gathering 1,500 exhibitors from 60 countries.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Novi Sad Fair, Mr Goran Vasić, has said that the participation of Portugal, as a Partner Country of the Agricultural Fair, will additionally encourage the commercial relations between our two countries as well as help domestic farmers see how agriculture functions in the countries of the European Union.

At the Press Conference on Iriški Venac, he also added that 18 ministers of agriculture were coming to the fair, as they would participate in the ministry conference in Belgrade the day earlier.

The Ambassador of Portugal to Serbia, His Excellency, Luis de Almeida Sampajo, has said that 30 Portuguese companies from the agribusiness sector will present themselves at the International Agricultural Fair.

The Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia, Mr Miloš Milovanović, has announced that supportive measures aimed at subsidies for agriculture and encouragement of agricultural production will be released on 14th May.

Mr Milovanović has also announced a new concept of agricultural policy that is going to be mildly modified in certain segments if compared to the practice last year.

The central topic that the Ministry of Agriculture is going to launch at the fair within the scope of the dialogue with the ministries of agriculture of other countries, as Mr Milovanović has put it, will be the directions of national agricultural policies, i.e. protection of small farmers. The Serbian Ministry of Agriculture will again has its stand at the fair and will sponsor the International Exhibition of Livestock.

On Saturday, 21st May, at the Manege of the Novi Sad Fair there will be an International Tournament in Strength and Endurance "Strongman Champions League". The General Sponsor of this event is "Vait".
