Brau Beviale: added value industry get-together

Wednesday to Friday in the second week of November – this date has been marked in the diaries of umpteen thousands of European beverage experts for Brau Beviale 2011 in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 9–11 November. At the world's most important capital goods exhibition for the industry this year, a good 1,300 exhibitors present a comprehensive spectrum of high-quality beverage raw materials, innovative technologies, efficient logistics and sparkling marketing ideas for the expected 32,000 visitors.

At the close of the 2010 exhibition, 87 % of the exhibiting companies had already decided: We'll be there again at Brau Beviale 2011. No wonder, as 93 % made new business connections and 89 % expected noticeable follow-up business from the many contacts. The popular exhibition mix of professional presentation and personal contact is convincing again this year, with features such as manageable cost of exhibiting, highly efficient, information-packed and concentrated three days of the exhibition, comprehensive range of products, intensive personal dialogue with decision-makers, ideal date.

The exhibitors come from well over 40 countries, headed by companies from Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France and Belgium. The event focuses on the whole technology spectrum with machinery and installations for production, filling and packing of beverages, operating and laboratory equipment, and energy systems. About half the exhibitors can be assigned to this segment. Raw materials for beverage production are another key segment of Brau Beviale. The exhibitors here are the internationally operating hop traders and the manufacturers of raw materials and essences for soft drinks. A high degree of saturation particularly in the West European beverage markets encourages inventiveness, so the marketing product segment offers a variety of new concepts and marketing ideas for advertising and sales promotion. In the logistics segment, the leading European truck manufacturers present tailor-made solutions for beverage transportation and distribution.

The international Who's Who of the beverage industry is just as much at home at Brau Beviale as start-ups. Last year, 28 of these young innovative companies exhibited in the largest pavilion sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology at exhibitions throughout Germany in 2010. Young firms present their new ideas in a special area again in 2011.

New in 2011: The two leading exhibitions for the beverage industry, drinktec in Munich and Brau Beviale, are cooperating in the PET segment. The background to the cooperation is the exceptionally fast innovation cycle in this field. PETpoint, the PET segment of drinktec, is therefore also present at Brau Beviale in Nuremberg starting in 2011 – with raw materials, preform manufacture, stretch blow-moulding technology, filling systems, closure production, labelling, recycling and accessories

The "Modern Packaging" theme pavilion presents new developments and improvements in packaging materials and innovative technological solutions as its two focuses. The "Energy & Water" theme pavilion, which is organized together with the Competence Pool Weihenstephan of Munich Technical University, focuses on renewable energy, rational energy conversion, cogeneration units, contracting, disinfection, and recovery, analysis and treatment of water. The Exhibitors Forum with its short presentations at 20-minute intervals on all three days of the exhibition provides more details about the products seen on the stands. Alternative Concepts. Intelligent Solutions. Innovative Developments – is the motto of the international competition for the German Packaging Award 2011 for pioneering packaging ideas. The Deutsches Verpackungsinstitut (dvi – German Packaging Institute) presents this noted award on the first day of the exhibition. Will the number of entries for the European Beer Star Award top the thousand mark this time? This popular international beer competition was launched jointly in 2004 by Private Brauereien Bayern – the Bavarian private breweries association and honorary sponsor of the exhibition – and the German and European federations. 955 beers from all over the world faced the jury's critical verdict last year. The coveted prizes are presented on the second day of the exhibition.

The good 32,000 visitors at Brau Beviale 2010 came from technical and commercial management in the European beverage industry. With a share of over 30 %, the number of visitors from abroad was appreciably higher, mainly from Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Denmark, France, the Czech Republic and other countries of Central Eastern and Eastern Europe. More than three-quarters of the exhibitors had visitors from breweries, 42 % (multiple answers) were pleased about the interest shown by carbonated drink producers, followed by mineral water fillers (37 %) and fruit juice producers (34 %).
