Baselworld in pole position once again

The Baselworld 2011 World Watch and Jewellery Show is in the best possible position in the run-up to its start: the industry's key brands will be presenting their innovations in Basel from 24 to 31 March 2011. The preparatory work for the new halls being built for Baselworld 2013 has also been successfully completed.

The show management is expecting more than 1800 exhibitors and in excess of 100 000 professional visitors from all over the world at Baselworld 2011. The successful concept of the past few years is being maintained and refined: the exhibiting companies will be provided with sufficient space to present their collections and brand worlds within clearly delimited sectors at the show.

It is particularly gratifying to see that brands which have tried out other marketing instruments over the past few years on account of the economic crisis are now coming back to Baselworld as the internationally leading show. As a source of inspiration for the luxury goods industry, the World Watch and Jewellery Show will thus be able to highlight its key importance in the coming year too.

The exhibition site in Basel is undergoing a major revamp with a view to Baselworld 2013. With investments totalling some 430 million Swiss francs, Hall 1 is being extended towards Exhibition Square, Building 3 next to the car park is being rebuilt, and the two new hall complexes are being linked via a two-storey building above Exhibition Square.

The preparatory work required for the construction of the new halls was completed in mid-October already. Alongside the installation of provisional steel construction frames, a connecting tunnel was erected between the present Hall 1 and Hall 3. The actual building work for the new exhibition halls will only start after Baselworld 2011.
