ISH: showcase for innovative technologies

With a 40 percent share, buildings continue to represent the world's major single consumer of energy. Energy savings in buildings therefore represent the strongest lever, when it comes to protecting of the climate and the environment. ISH, the world's leading trade fair for efficient heating and air-conditioning technology, innovative bathroom design and sustainable sanitation technologies will, from 15 to 19 March 2011 in Frankfurt am Main, be showcasing the solutions that are already available for this today. Over 2,300 manufacturers, including all the market leaders and leading technological companies across the world will be presenting their new products for the first time worldwide in the fully-booked exhibition centre. In the ISH Energy section, visitors will find all the pioneering products in the field of heating, air-conditioning and ventilation technology. The complementary programme at the ISH Technology and Energy Forum offers more detailed information on the subject.

By 2020, the EU intends to have reduced CO2 emissions by 20 percent. Meeting this target, and the savings that go with it, will require a significantly reduced consumption of heat. In buildings, the majority of energy savings potential remains unexploited. At least, this is true for heating systems. If all the existing systems were modernised, then up to 50 percent of the energy that is today used for heating could be saved – most sustainably, by modernising the heating system in a way which uses energy efficient systems in tandem with renewable energies. At ISH, the industry will be offering a breadth and range of the right solutions that is unique in the world.

These solutions will be presented to visitors at the trade fair in the ISH Technology and Energy Forum in the Galleria, with the slogan "Efficient systems and renewable energies". This twin strategy is the central component of modern heating and ventilation technology and represents the key to sustainable protection of both natural resources and the climate. Specialist lectures and a product-neutral exhibition will indicate future trends and explain the potential in modern building services technology. There will be presentations of the new possibilities for increasing efficiency and using renewable energies in buildings, the integration of modern building services technology in existing building stock and the use of biogenic fuels. Examples of completed modernisation projects present a particularly clear picture of how to put in place a system for generating heat in a way that is both sustainable and conserves natural resources.

In the ISH Energy section, the whole range of technology for innovative building services systems is represented, with building services and energy technologies, renewable energies and cooling, air-conditioning and ventilation technologies: manufacturers will be presenting their new products with a focus on combining efficient systems with renewable energies such as solar, geothermal, and biomass energy sources. Air-conditioning, cooling and ventilation technologies are represented at ISH under the Aircontec name. Here, the industry will also be presenting sustainable, pioneering solutions to its public; including, for example, heat pumps for both heating and cooling, solar-powered air-conditioning and heat recovery as well as free cooling and indirect evaporative cooling systems.
