Texworld solidifies position as a fashion show

Texworld's position as a fashion show has been fully justified with this edition (Paris Le Bourget, 13-16 September 2010). Thanks to the theatrical staging of Designers & Fashion, Fabric Experience, dreamed up by the Artistic Directors, Louis Gérin and Grégory Lamaud who took visitors on a symbolic voyage to the heart of the world of clothing, Texworld was able to appeal to visitors overall who were intrigued, fascinated and captivated by this experience.

This is why numerous buyers stayed on to discover the new ideas presented in the six modules in this area, the aim of which was not however to show coming trends.

Texworld welcomed 14, 764 visitors during the four day show, a drop of 0.7% in terms of visitor traffic (visits) but an increase of 3.3 % in terms of actual visitors as compared to the September 2009 show.

The forums at the exhibition were extremely well attended, as buyers had come to discover the trends and innovations from exhibitors for winter 2011/12.

Trends:
- prints: animal (Nooteboom, Sunteks, Fabco), digital (Fabrix Plus, Murarka), graphic/abstract (Fabco) or “vintage patina” with undefined, blurred colour contours or with trompe-l’oeil effects (Jang Ho Mulsan, Iljoong Intertex, Huizhoung Textile);
- knitwear: countless technical innovations for very colourful, softer knitwear, knitted and then printed (Musum); with brilliant, metallic effects (Minje Textile); with leather appliqués, given a fresh interpretation for a more modern look (Pasari Textiles, JFC Business, Candid Enterprise); knitwear with lace to be worn next to the skin, or enhanced with sequins.
- wool: tweeds have been given a fresh interpretation and made more contemporary (Or-Bey, Texway, Easetex Industries), soft and silky angora.
- silks (Bharat Silk, Murarka) are offered in printed and fanciful versions.
- lace enhanced with strass and feathers (Sunwoo, Dhawoo Mode, Antonio & Co).

A good outcome for eco-friendly products from exhibitors which saw an increase of 30% with 125 companies specialising in the sector, most of which have improved the quality and quantity of certifications, subjected to stringent checks by Bernd Müller, head of this sector at the centre of Messe Frankfurt.

This trend has become a genuine route of development for the sector, with more and more labels introducing eco-friendly clothing in their collections. The “Green Textiles: Fabrics that care” circuit was highly appreciated by buyers on the look-out for organic fabrics, as it showcased the suppliers and also drew attention to eco-friendly services at the exhibition, like the forum and “Texworld’s round table on sustainable development.

The next Texworld show will be held at the Paris le Bourget exhibition centre from 7th to 10th February 2011.
