Powtech for powder, granule and bulk solids technologies

Powtech 2010 from 27–29 April again offers the around 15,000 expected trade visitors the opportunity for three days of intensive exchange of views with well-known manufacturers, developers and production experts. This year, almost 700 exhibitors present pioneering products, the latest technologies and future trends at the leading exhibition for powder, granule and bulk solids technologies. The extensive supporting programme offers a variety of ideas for everyday work at events ranging from explosion protection and nanotechnology live to free presentations in the halls.

Experts from the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries and companies from the ceramic, building material and plastic industries look for efficient solutions that spare resources. Powtech is the place where suppliers and production specialists for mechanical processing technologies and instrumentation from all over the world meet at the end of April 2010. It is the undisputed leading exhibition for powder, granule and bulk solids technologies, for no comparable exhibition offers such a concentrated range of these technologies. Decision-makers from all over the world use this forum to update on the latest innovations in size reduction, milling, screening and mixing.

Besides the almost 700 exhibitors with the latest process technologies and tomorrow's trends, the visitors can look forward to a high-profile supporting programme and the World Congress on Particle Technology, supported by PARTEC.

The hazard of combustible and explosive materials is often underestimated: 80 per cent of all industrially processed dusts are explosive, and there are innumerable other combustible gases and vapours that demand maximum safety in many process technologies. POWTECH offers visitors a wide variety of events with the opportunity to update on current knowledge and source information about innovations in safety and explosion protection.

The seminar on "Industrial explosion protection and tests to the German Health & Safety at Work Act – practical examples", which is organized by VDI Wissensforum, starts the day before the Powtech and TechnoPharm exhibitions. The seminar lasting one and a half days provides help on specific questions and suggests practical solutions to meet the requirements of the Occupational Health & Safety Act. The seminar is intended for engineers, technicians and qualified staff involved with the organization of explosion protection in their companies.

The magazine "Verfahrenstechnik" brings together visitors at Powtech/TechnoPharm and explosion protection experts for the first time: An exclusive tour of selected exhibitors to benefit from their explosion protection know-how takes place daily at 10.30 a.m.

The INDEX Safety Congress celebrates its premiere at Powtech 2010 on 26–27 April. This event is devoted specifically to "Industrial explosion protection" and gathers experts from all over the world. The programme includes lectures on current changes and coming new aspects of regulations and standards, experimental presentations on ignition sources and dust explosions, videos of accidents and explosions, and brand-new developments in protection systems and services. Among the speakers are Professor Siegfried Radandt from the Forschungsgesellschaft für angewandte Systemsicherheit und Arbeitsmedizin e. V., Mannheim, Dr. Ashok Dastidar of Fauske, USA, and Dr. Kees van Wingerden of Gexcon, Norway.

The programme also includes spectacular live explosions with brief descriptions – daily in the exhibition centre park at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

At least one of the dimensions of length, width and height of the structures that scientists investigate in nanotechnology is smaller than 100 nanometres. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research presents its "nanoTruck" again at this year's POWTECH/TechnoPharm. This is a roadshow and communication centre that presents nanotechnology live at two levels and brings the theory from the scientists' laboratories straight to the people.

The magazines "PROCESS", "PharmaTEC" and "Schüttgut" now present the Innovation Award for the third time to the most innovative plants and processes exhibited at Powtech/TechnoPharm 2010. The award categories are "basic processing technologies for powder and bulk solids", "plant engineering and processing components", "particle/material analysis and characterization", "instrumentation/automation", "environmental and safety technology/explosion protection", "filling/packaging technology" and "pharmaceutical technology". The innovation is related to either a completely newly developed component, plant, system or process, or an improvement that essentially differs from the respective present state of the art. The winners of the individual categories will be announced at a ceremony at 6 p.m. on the first day of the exhibition.
Entries for the award can be accepted until 11 March 2010.
