Powtech 2010

Suppliers and production specialists from all over the world meet to discuss the latest innovations at Powtech 2010 from 27-29 April 2010 in Exhibition Centre Nuremberg, Nuremberg, Germany. Next year's Powtech will again prove its top position as Trade Fair for Mechanical Processing Technologies and Instrumentation. No other exhibition in the world offers such a combination of concentrated themes and a large number of international exhibitors and trade visitors. At the last event in 2008, 707 companies – including 209 international exhibitors from 26 countries – presented their products to more than 15, 000 trade visitors. WCPT6, the World Congress on Particle Technology sponsored by Partec, takes place parallel to Powtech next year, starting a day earlier on 26 April.

The Powtech exhibition is the leading international communication forum for cross-sector technologies. Particle analysis for characterization, process control and quality assurance goes hand in hand with the latest developments in mechanical processes. This means Powtech not only shows the innovations for central process functions in many industries, but is also a recognized trend indicator. Manufacturers of process technology, plant and apparatus with their innovative solutions show new ways for optimized efficiency, lower energy consumption, more exact reproducibility and markedly less use of resources.

With this range of products, Powtech offers three days of exceptionally concentrated information for visitors from industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, machinery and plant engineering, packaging, food, nanotechnology, explosion protection and industrial safety, quarrying and earthworks, and ceramics.

One in three of the more than 15,000 visitors in 2008 travelled from abroad to attend Powtech and the parallel TechnoPharm exhibition. Some 94 per cent of Powtech visitors are involved in procurement decisions, according to the results of a survey by an independent institute in 2008. The main reason for visiting is to obtain information about new products, followed by exchanging views and information, cultivating existing business contacts, market orientation and training.

With a comprehensive spectrum of products and services in the exhibition halls and many special shows and lecture presentations as training platforms, Powtech in combination with TechnoPharm, the International Trade Fair for Life Science Process Technologies, provides the necessary information lead and the inspiration to create key competitive advantages again in 2010.

Industrial safety and explosion protection are currently more topical than ever in the powder and bulk solids processing industry and in process technologies for the pharma, food and cosmetics sectors. So it is obvious that Powtech/TechnoPharm 2010 as leading exhibition duo offers a platform for these key issues. The daily dust explosions in the exhibition centre park impressively demonstrate the potential hazard.

VDI Wissensforum Düsseldorf presents an accompanying seminar on explosion protection on 26-27 April, which summarizes the major requirements of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and shows case studies in a concentrated and practical form. The participants learn how a risk assessment is structured and carried out and obtain basic information about the classification and marking of zones in explosive areas. Preventive and design measures for explosion protection are presented with examples.

There will be a two-day symposium again in 2010, organized by the magazines "CHEMIE TECHNIK / Pharma+Food" from Hüthig Verlag together with the International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology (APV). The symposium will focus on "The future of process control".

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research shows its "nanoTruck" again at the coming Powtech/TechnoPharm. This road show and communication centre presents nanotechnology live at two levels and brings the theory from the scientists' laboratories straight to the people.

The World Congress on Particle Technology (WCPT), supported by the PARTEC Congress, takes place next year for the second time parallel to the Powtech/TechnoPharm duo. This world congress will concentrate and discuss the latest findings and experiences from all segments of particle technology, when more than 1,000 scientists from all over the world compare their research findings on the four days of the event.
