Korea Consumer Goods Fair

Korea Consumer Goods Fair International Pavilion, the international trade fair for consumer goods which is organized by Messe Frankfurt Korea Ltd., will take place from 24 ~ 26 September 2009 at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX), Goyang, Gyeonggi-do province in Korea.

Providing an ideal venue for tableware & kitchenware, home decoration, household items, household appliances and gift items, Korea Consumer Goods Fair International Pavilion is expected to present a successful business platform for world suppliers to build up their brand awareness and strategic positioning in the Korean market as well as Asian market.

Korea is located centrally within Northeast Asia, a region with a population of 1.5 billion with a combined GDP that accounts for 22% of world, thus offering large-scale consumer markets. The nation has an immediate access to China, rapidly emerging as the worldЁЏs most powerful single market, and 43 cities with populations of more than one million, including Tokyo and Hong Kong, are located within a three-hour flight of the capital Seoul.

As one of the fastest growing economies in the world, Korea is working to become the focal point of a powerful Asian economic blcok. From 1962 to 2007, KoreaЁЏs GDP increased from US$2.3 billion to $969.9 billion, with its per capita GNI soaring from $87 to $20, 045. As worldЁЏs 12th largest importer, imports recorded US$435.3 billion in 2008, a 22% increase from the previous year.

Buying power of KoreaЁЏs 48.4 million population is in the top range among Asian markets. Korean consumers, with a huge and growing appetite for goods, have a high propensity to spend and are "early adopters, " making the nation an ideal test-bed for new information technology applications and marketing strategies.

The local retail market features highly diversified distribution channels - among KoreaЁЏs key retail sectors, direct sales channels such as discount stores, department stores, TV home shopping channels and Internet shopping malls can be good entry points and test markets for imported consumer goods with high quality and functionality. In particular, Korea's well-established Internet infrastructure and mobile telecommunications are expected to contribute to the elevation of the industrial productivity and competitiveness of TV or online shopping channels.

Significantly, Korea Consumer Goods Fair 2009 International Pavilion is going to be held in parallel with G-FAIR 2009 (Gyeonggi, Global, Great Goods) which is organized by Gyeonggi-do and the Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Center (GSBC), and GP Show 2009 (Korea Good Products) which is organized by the Small & Medium Business Association of Korea (SMBCA).

Officially sponsored by the Small and Medium Business Administration (SBA), the Korean Venture Association (KOVA), the Korean International Trade Association (KITA) and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Consumer Goods Fair 2009 International Pavilion and the two concurrent fairs are expected to attract some local 550 companies in the 21,546 m2 floor space of the exhibition halls 1 & 2 of KINTEX.

Most of all, the presence of large number of retailers, wholesalers and purchasing directors from domestic distribution outlets as well as over 400 international trade buyers is expected to generate a wealth of sales opportunities. Plus, the impressive collection of products created by innovative designers will present the current trend in the consumer goods industry.
