aquanale: Well-business Of The Future!

The more difficult the economic times, the more demanding your professional life becomes, the more important it is to establish a balance between your work and private life. Up and down the country yoga and meditation courses or relaxing wellness trips for beating stress are on offer. But where could you integrate the daily short break more easily into everyday routine than in your own bathroom? In addition to the need for "Cocooning", a withdrawal, new bedrooms or gardens, the Germans have discovered the bathroom as a wellness oasis.

Alternatively, complete wellness rooms with integrated bathroom are also now available - it is quite often the case that former children's rooms are converted for this purpose. The SPIRIT of BATH special show at aquanale, the International Trade Fair for Sauna, Pool, Ambience, from 28th to 31st October in Cologne, will show how the areas water, heat and wellness can be integrated in the bathroom. The Special Show will provide inspiration for the operators and architects of wellness facilities, for private individuals and dealers.

With the SPIRIT of BATH concept the publishing company Verlag wellness&media, which is presenting the Special show, has turned its attention towards the functions which the bathroom performs in peoples' lives. Far away from superficial lifestyle-reporting, these are viewed in a philosophical approach. In this connection one function is self-enjoyment, which according to the motto "Here I am man, here dare it to be", stands for the true self. Other functions worthy of mention include catharsis as the ancient need to cleanse body and soul, as well as stimulation which livens people up before or after work. Last but not least, the bath also assumes the function of preparing you to face the day, establishing the transition from private life to everyday work routine. Three bath exhibitions are showing products which satisfy these functions and enable wellness time-out at home, at any time and without previous planning.

In this connection, Helo Sauna is presenting the "Cupreme" sauna, a solid wood sauna in modular construction, which can be perfectly easily integrated in the bathroom environment. It is not only individually plannable, its design featuring a large glass front enhances every room. Here, as is the case with the also-integrated steam bath, the needs for spiritual and physical cleansing (catharsis) are also catered for as the well as the desire to enjoy oneself and do so in total peace and quiet. The internal features of the sauna and steam bath evoke the association with ancient bathing rituals: in the steam bath you sit in a circle and in the "Cupreme" sauna you take your place on comfortable, broad benches grouped around the large heated oven and just sweat away your everyday stress.

A new kind of gentle but comprehensive cleansing using water is presented by Geberit with its new "I-love-water" brand campaign. The new Geberit "AquaClean", a WC with integrated shower function, is so to speak at the forefront of our toilet culture today - from the bathroom with WC to the wellness bath with toilet, which uses water to refreshingly clean the user's derriere in a natural process. In a wellness and hygiene study, the GfK Nürnberg (Society for Consumer Research) found in 2008 that the majority of Germans feel fresher and cleaner after washing with water. The sanitary systems manufacturer Geberit has now come up with the corresponding product response in the form of the Geberit "AquaClean" attachments and complete systems.

The SPIRIT of BATH Special Show is demonstrating how this looks in the complete bathroom in combination with ceramics in the Memento series from Villeroy&Boch. In this connection, the secret of otherwise concealed technology behind glass fronts is revealed - hip, trendy and waiting for water. The bathroom concept is complemented by the Subway bathroom radiator from Villeroy & Boch by Zehnder, which ensures cosy, warm hand towels. The "Subway" was developed on the basis of the bathroom radiator's old "original design". Its classic purist design is stringent, the convenient insertion of the handtowels perfectly ensures everyday comfort, convenience, wellness and self-enjoyment. In "Enso" Zehnder is also presenting a design radiator for the bathroom, which incorporates rounded corners in its design and consistently reflects the current trend towards organic forms.

Self-enjoyment is the return to self. The aim is to leave the everyday routine and work behind you and win back yourself. For many people nature offers such an oasis. Organic forms, natural colours and materials are therefore assuming a key significance in the wellness sector. Just how marble, the popular material, keenly sought after for centuries, can assert itself in today's bathroom sector, is shown by Stickel Marmor & Granit at the special show in its Jupiter range. "Natural stone is not only stone, it is a piece of nature. Each piece of stone has its own shape and form, colours and history", explains owner Gerhard Stickel. "Each bathroom product is a unique item here." And not only that, natural stone offers optimum hygienic prerequisites for use in bathrooms, is anti-allergic and easy care. Reclining on the heat bench stimulates circulation and reduces stress. The natural form has also been chosen by Helo GmbH with its egg-shaped, tiled steam bath. Here you feel transported back to mother's womb and then - refreshed, with recharged batteries - ready to go out into the world again "looking spick and span".

Self enjoyment, catharsis, stimulation and getting ready for the day - in all these functions the SPIRIT of BATH Special Show demonstrates how wellness is possible in the bathroom of today.
