ANUGA Gourmet Festival

"Enjoyment for all the senses" will be the motto from 9th to 16th October 2009, when the Anuga trade fair will be accompanied for the first time ever by the Anuga Gourmet Festival. Anuga, the most important global trade fair for the food and beverage sector, is the meeting place for all decision-makers from the world of food and drinks and ensures an exchange of ideas at the highest level. During this event, our city expects to welcome more than 6,000 exhibitors from 95 countries as well as approximately 160,000 trade fair visitors.

The Anuga Gourmet Festival will be presented in close cooperation with Koelnmesse by City-Marketing Köln, Take Five Hotels, Vintage GmbH, Galeria Kaufhof and DeHoGa Nordrhein, thus creating an ideal link between the city centre of Cologne and the trade fair activities. The Anuga Gourmet Festival will thus make a valuable contribution to the trade fair's supporting programme for exhibitors and visitors alike. "Thanks to this shared project between Koelnmesse and the various partners located all over the city, we are continuing the successful cooperation between the trade fair company and City-Marketing Köln, " according to a joint statement of City-Marketing Chairman Heinrich Remagen and Koelnmesse CEO Gerald Böse.

Numerous partners from the trade, restaurant and hotel segments will be presenting special offers and specialities to trade fair guests and visitors as well as Cologne residents on this occasion. The offerings will reflect the diversity of our Rhineland region, ranging from fine chocolates and delicatessen products to hearty homemade fare.

A selection of the best restaurants and gourmet shops will provide Cologne residents and the city's guests with many special pleasures. After all, the aim is to show off Cologne's fine cuisine and demonstrate that our multifaceted city deserves the slogan "Cologne is a pleasure in itself!"

A further highlight of the Anuga Gourmet Festival will be the ShoppingNight on 10th October 2009. On this evening the Schildergasse will be lined with small but exquisite "pleasure islands" until midnight, enabling visitors to sample culinary delights as they stroll and shop.

On the occasion of Anuga, the Galeria Kaufhof will also be presenting the best it has to offer.

A fine selection of top-quality wines and champagnes, precisely matched to the culinary pleasures of caviar and other treats, will be awaiting guests in the atrium of the lifestyle and event area, which covers more than 240 square metres on the building's ground floor.

The newly remodelled Galeria Gourmet on the lower floor also offers a full range of delicacies from the Rhineland region and abroad, as well as many gourmet islands, for visitors with refined tastes.
