The INDESEC Expo

The Indian Government is readdressing its internal security strategy in the face of ongoing terrorist threats; significantly boosting its defence budget and fast-tracking new technology procurements.

The INDESEC Expo series is India's only trade exhibition and conference dedicated to the homeland security sector. The event - scheduled for October 11th to 13th 2009 in New Delhi - focuses on the key security areas of: internal; border; maritime; airport; transport; critical infrastructure and disaster management.

The event, at New Delhi's Pragati Maidan, is expected to attract many key ministers and ministry staff from relevant departments.

INDESEC Expo is organised by Informa, the world's leading information specialist and the owners of global events including the Monaco Yacht Show, Cityscape, 3GSM and Leaders in India. INDESEC Expo 2009 is organised in association with ASSOCHAM, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India: an apex industry body in India that represents the interests of industry and trade.

"INDESEC Expo 2009 will attract Government decision makers, influencers and end users, which is critical if we are to deliver a high level of return of investment in time, money and resources for our Indian and international exhibiting companies" says Alex Nicholl, former director of Defence Systems & Equipment International (DSEi) and current Executive Director of Indesec Expo 2009.

Brig. Raj Manchanda, Group Director, Defence and Security Division says INDESEC is different to other defence and security events in India.

"As the distinction between security and defence becomes less relevant, the co-ordination between ministries, olice, coastguard and the three services becomes hugely important, " says Brig. Manchanda.

"Their shared knowledge and experience will increase the chance of procuring the right equipment on time and at the right price".

In addition to senior ministry representation, INDESEC will attract key decision makers from the paramilitary forces, state police troops, anti-terrorist and Special Forces, and emergency workers, to create the optimum business environment for both exhibitors and visitors.
