ECOC Exhibition In Vienna

The principle FTTH Industry body, Tier 1 network equipment manufacturers, top analysts and industry leading CEOs, will all feature in the ECOC (European Conference of Optical Communications) 2009 Market Focus seminars, taking place at the ECOC exhibition in Vienna, Austria, 21st -23rd September.

Following last year's highly successful sessions, the Market Focus has attracted world-wide interest this year. The Focus sessions will be spread across the opening three days and will cover a range of topics including 40G and 100G Ethernet, Optical Network Agility, and the role of optical communications in Green Telecoms and Mass Market Broadband Fibre Access.

"The level of interest in this year's Market Focus has been phenomenal – in all the years I have been working with ECOC I cannot remember an initiative which has created so much demand, " said Beverley Lucas, Group Events Manager for organisers Nexus Media.

"Shortlisting has been an enormous challenge, but we think we will be left with a truly world class programme of presentations by some of the leading names and organisations in our industry."

The presentations, which take place on the exhibition floor, will be opened on Monday 21st at 12.50 by a session dedicated to the Fibre-to-the-home market, with the FTTH Council Europe; Cisco and Deutsch Telekom.

The Tuesday morning session, beginning at 11.00am will put the spotlight on 40G and 100G Ethernet systems, which will be represented by Michel P. Belanger of Nortel; Javed Patel, CEO of Sierra Monolithics; Scott Arnett of Tellabs and Gilles Bouchard in his speaking debut as CEO of Opnext.

The Tuesday afternoon session beginning at 13.50 will focus on optical network agility, opening with, Marcel Rijnders EMEA director of managed services for Verizon; followed by Sinclair Vass of JDSU; Rodolfo Di Muro of Ericsson and Said Aramideh of CoreOptics.

The Market Focus finale on Wednesday morning will address optical solutions for mobile networks and packet optical transport, opening with Sam Lisle of Fujitsu at 11.00; followed by France Telecom and Nokia Siemens, concluding with Andrew Schmitt of Infonetics at 13.00.
