IFRA Expo 2009 Offers Clear Orientation In Troubled Times

IFRA Expo 2009 will take place from 12 to 15 October in Vienna. The motto for this year's IFRA Expo, which is being held in what is a very difficult year for the news publishing industry, is "Your essential GPS", reflecting its aim to both showcase the current state of the industry as well as to provide direction for the future.

"Your essential GPS"
IFRA, as the event organiser, is developing the exhibition programme with the challenges at present facing the industry in mind. "IFRA Expo 2009 will act as a navigation instrument: On the one hand, it allows visitors to take stock of the latest technical state of the art. On the other hand, it is the ideal platform for recognising ways towards a successful future – by covering new business models and presenting efficient technologies, " is how Michael Heipel, IFRA Director Supplier Services, describes the underlying principle of IFRA Expo 2009.

"In the present situation of the industry, Vienna is an especially attractive venue. The Mercer consulting company places the city on the Danube in the number 2 slot worldwide in its annual city ranking. The level of prices for both exhibitors and visitors is very favourable in Vienna. Besides very good international accessibility, the exhibition location offers attractive hotel prices as well as a low level of additional costs."

IFRA Expo 2009 will be held in halls A and B of the Reed Messe Wien. Hall A will focus on digital topics, systems and software solutions. Special emphasis will be put on the advertising business as well as new business models based on mobile services and online solutions. This hall will be of special interest to IT Managers, Heads of Marketing and Distribution, (Chief) Editors and Business Development Managers. Hall B will be dedicated to newspaper production. Chief Executives, Production Managers and decision-makers from the areas of prepress, press and post-press will have the opportunity there to inspect the latest developments for efficient and cost-saving production.

IFRA offers suppliers to the news publishing industry a comprehensive service package for their exhibition participation. Besides advance event marketing, this also includes online services, advertising as well as PR services. The "Solution Park Digital Systems" in hall A and the "Ideas in Printing Square" in hall B address small and medium-sized companies with specialised solutions. IFRA has developed a newcomer package for first-time exhibitors to enable them to participate in the exhibition at a favourable cost.

Especially noteworthy among the many-faceted events accompanying the Expo are the Focus Sessions on the topic of "Newspapers Today" as well as the IFRA XMA 2009 cross-media competition (www.ifra.com/xma) with presentation of the winners.
