EcoTech 2009

Development of the nature conservation technologies in Kazakhstan, new trends in waste recycling, water and air pollution prevention and treatment, recovery of contaminated land, use of renewable energy sources, energy conservation and effective use of resources will all be covered by the 5th Anniversary Central Asian International Exhibition of EcoTechnologies and EcoServices for Industrial and Municipal Sectors – EcoTech 2009 to be held on 16-18 September 2009 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This exhibition of environmental technology and services has a few features. Just like the last year, this year's General Sponsor of the exhibition was KazMunaiGas Exploration & Production JSC, the leading local oil company.

With support from the Ministry of Environment Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), the exhibition will include a conference on Waste Treatment Industry Promotion in Kazakhstan and International Waste Management Expertise. ENRC, one of the world's leading companies in mineral production and processing, will be General Sponsor of the conference.

The agenda includes waste management as contribution to further prosperity of Kazakhstan; comprehensive use of recoverable resources and waste by extractive industries; waste recycling development capacity and international expertise; significance of managerial decisions for waste accounting and recycling; waste as an energy source: biogas, methane, sulphur, effective use of resources and energy conservation; waste as a new opportunity to develop small and medium business (glass, rubber, paper, building materials, fertilisers, import substitution); social aspects of liquidation of historical contamination. The Kazakhstan Business Association for Sustainable Development (KBASD) will be official partner of the conference.

Traditionally, EcoTech is a venue for professional discussion of all pressing environmental issues, presentation of the latest conservation technologies, discussion of joint projects, and signing of contracts. In this respect, the exhibition includes a number of various activities. For instance, the Kazakhstan company Vtorma Ecology Co. LLP will arrange tours to a landfill and a waste recycling plant.

The exhibition is organised by the Kazakhstan exhibition company Iteca in collaboration with the Kazakhstan Business Association for Sustainable Development (KBASD) and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA). Official support for the project is provided by the Ministry of Environment Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Almaty City Akimat.
