Quality Seal: The Viscom Innovation Award

They contribute to making viscom the industry platform for visual communication: year after year, the exhibitors at this international trade fair, which will be staged from 1 to 3 October in Düsseldorf this year, present quality and innovations. "In order to both honour and support our exhibitors we launched the viscom INNOVATION AWARD in 2007", explains trade fair director Petra Lassahn. This is the big difference compared to the "Digital Signage Best Practice Award", for which applicants do not necessarily have to be exhibitors at viscom.

The INNOVATION AWARD is presented in five categories: Signmaking (machinery, materials, software, tools, application and installation techniques for the production of advertising technology products), Signmaking - POS (finished products such as presentation systems for display at the point of sale), Digital Printing/Large Format Printing, Light Advertising and Textile Processing. "In the application, the important point is to clearly highlight its innovative character ", emphasises Petra Lassahn. Innovation in this context means more than just a new product. "The potential user must be able to count on significant added value compared to existing machinery, solutions or media." The decisive aspect for the evaluation by the jury is the transformation of the innovation into a marketable product or technology, taking into account economic, design and ecological considerations. Among the members of the jury will be chief editors of the media partners Werbetechnik, Large Format Printing, SIP, TVP and signPro Europe, as well as representatives of Fachverband Lichtwerbung e.V. and Zentralverband Werbetechnik e.V. The deadline for submitting the application documents is 31 July.

Creativity pays off
A new addition to the viscom award portfolio is the Light Advertising Best Practice Award, to honour completed light advertising installations in application. In contrast to the INNOVATION AWARD, companies that are not exhibiting at viscom can also participate. The aim of the new award is especially to honour creative design of light advertising applications in a suitable setting. viscom, the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication, will take place from 1 to 3 October 2009 at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre. 350 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and more than 10,000 visitors are expected.
