The 9th edition of the Analitica Latin America

The 9th edition of Analitica Latin America was held by Nielsen Business Media, which is responsible for organizing the most important supplier, distributor, and retailer meetings in Brazil through its business trade fairs. Approximately 11 thousand visitors attended between September 26th and 28th, representing a growth of 20% in comparison with the 2005 edition. Professionals from the food sector, as well as professionals from areas such as environment, packing, process engineering, equipment, services, pharmaceutical, machinery, mining, chemical and doctors from instrument companies, attended the fair.

With over 500 companies within a 14,000 square-meter exhibiting area, the event focused on innovations and trends in technology and processes for laboratories. In addition, lectures were given by professionals, who are role models in the segment, on topics such as microbiology, DNA, stem cells and biosecurity, all of which were a success among the congress attendees.

According to Ligia Amorin, General Director of Nielsen Business Media, Analitica 2007 exceeded expectations regarding the number of attendees, and it certainly contributed to the sector a lot. "The event brought the main manufacturers, suppliers and retailers from this field together, proving that trade fairs are the best opportunity to contact the most important consuming industries in the laboratory universe.", she said.

The exhibitors were also very pleased with the results; "The trade fair met our expectations, because we made lots of contacts for future business.", the Director of Altmann, Tomas Altmann said. Commercial Director of Charis Technologies, Alvaro Modesto de Oliveira, adds "For us, the event was very productive. The attendees had different interests and a meaningful number of them came to visit us."

Analítica 2007 also served as a stage for the 1st Febrafarma Analítica Quality Award held by Febrafarma (Brazilian Federation of the Pharmaceutical Industry), in partnership with Nielsen Business Media. The winners of the nine judged requirements were announced on September 26th. In the "Analysis and Tests (outsourcing)" category, the winner was T&E Analitica. In the "Equipment" category, the winner was Agilent Technologies. In the "Glass Products" category, the winner was Hexis Cientifíca. In the "Individual Production Equipment" category, the winner was Bio Cristal and in the "Instruments" category, the winner was Agilent Technologies. Merck was the winner in the "Analytical Standards" and Chromatech was the winner in "Services" category. In the "Projects and Installations" and "Reagents and Solvents" categories, the winners were VL Fabricação de Laboratórios – Group Vidy and Merck, respectively.

Steven Burril, who is considered to be the most important specialist in biotechnology in the world, spoke at the 2007 Analítica Latin América Congress. Other speakers included Doctor Andre Bittencourt dos Santos, an expert with the Federal Police, Doctor Rosália Mendez Otero, an accredited professor at the Federal University in the State of Rio de Janeiro, and the IV Assistant Professor of the Microbiology and Parasitological Department at the Fluminense Federal University.
