The online shop is now open - travel packages available on the Internet - special rates from Deutsche Bahn for trade fair visitors and exhibitors. The online shop at www.kindundjugend.de has also been open since the beginning of June. Visitors requiring a visa should apply in due time to ensure that there will be no problems entering Germany.

Save up to 40 percent and get in the fast lane to the exhibition halls
An early decision to travel to Cologne is definitely recommended. Visitors will not only save up to 40 percent on the price at the gate when they order their admission tickets online, they will also get into the halls the quickest when they register in advance on the Internet and order their tickets there. Access to visitor registration and the online shop has been activated since the beginning of June at www.kindundjugend.de. After ordering, the admission tickets will be promptly sent by e-mail. Visitors who order online will then be able to use the "fast lane" to enter the halls and can use buses and trains in and around Cologne as soon as they arrive. This is because with their admission ticket, visitors, exhibitors and journalists can travel within the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Sieg (VRS) regional public transport system free of charge. All the important city destinations can be reached by public transport in 10 minutes at most.

The buses and trains of the Kölner Verkehrsbetriebe (KVB) as well as the S-Bahn connection that runs several times per hour, enabling a fast transfer from the airport to the train station at the fairgrounds in only 15 minutes (line S13), are also free of charge.

Prices that will get you off the ground - Cologne/Bonn Airport
Over the last few years, the Cologne/Bonn Airport has developed into a central hub for so-called low-cost carriers. A number of airlines thus fly to Cologne at very affordable rates - 120 destinations alone are serviced by 40 airlines. Visitors to Kind + Jugend can thus affordably combine their trip to Cologne with other business meetings in other European countries. The earlier flights are booked, the greater the chance is of getting a particularly affordable rate. By clicking on the "Travel Service" link on the Kind + Jugend website (www.kindundjugend.de), it is possible to take advantage of affordable rates for flights with the Koelnmesse reservation system.

Special rates from Deutsche Bahn
For those travelling by train, Koelnmesse in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn is offering train tickets from anywhere in Germany to the train station Köln Messe/Deutz at special rates. Exhibitors and visitors to Kind + Jugend 2009 pay only 89 EUR for a 2nd class roundtrip ticket to Cologne from within Germany if the distance does not exceed 350 kilometres (1st class: 139 EUR). Tickets for roundtrip routes to Cologne that exceed 350 kilometres cost 139 EUR in 2nd class and 219 EUR in 1st class. A seat reservation is not included in the price. Further offers are also available for select routes from Switzerland (Zurich), Austria (Vienna), the Netherlands (Amsterdam), Belgium (Brussels) and Denmark (Copenhagen). The ticket is only valid in connection with presenting a printout of the online registration as a trade visitor, an admission ticket, an exhibitor ID or a journalist accreditation for Kind + Jugend. Bookings can be made online at www.kindundjugend.de or by phone via the hotline for the sales office of Deutsche Bahn GmbH (DB Dialog): 01805/311153 (EUR 0.14 per minute from the German fixed network), please specify the keyword "Kind + Jugend".

Convenient and affordable: book hotels online
As part of its hotel service, Koelnmesse is cooperating with nearly 120 partner hotels in Cologne and the surrounding area to offer the best possible rates. By clicking on the "Travel Service" link on the Kind + Jugend website, hotels can be conveniently booked online. Reservations for private rooms can also be made using this service.

Koelnmesse has another attractive offer for anyone who considers the separate booking of the arrival, accommodation and departure to be too complicated or time-consuming: travel and accommodation can also be booked together as a travel package via the Kind + Jugend website. In cooperation with one of the world's largest travel agencies, Koelnmesse offers the combined reservation of hotel rooms, flights and rental cars with savings over individual bookings.

Observe the low emission zone
Since 1 January 2008, the city centre of Cologne has been a low emission zone. This means that only vehicles in emissions groups 2 through 4 that bear the respective stickers may drive into the city centre (www.stadt-koeln.de). Access to Koelnmesse is ensured for all vehicles even without these stickers. However, a direct continuation of journeys outside these routes, for example into the city centre of Cologne, is now only permitted for vehicles with the appropriate sticker. Trade fair participants from Germany and abroad with appropriately equipped vehicles can receive stickers permitting them to drive into the low emission zone at www.umwelt-plakette.de.
