Createasphere: Learn Announces Expansion

Createasphere/LEARN, the Workshop Division of HD EXPO, is expanding offerings and bolstering its staff roster as a part of a year of transformation that began early in 2009 as HD EXPO becomes Createasphere. The expansion underway throughout HD EXPO in the transition includes Createasphere/CONNECT, the membership organization; Createasphere/LEARN and the well known expos, Createasphere/EXPLORE.

Createasphere/LEARN premiers the first RED-sanctioned educational program, REDucation, in Los Angeles - July, 2009. REDucation will include RED Post, RED Tech, and RED Community. The curriculum will be hands-on, intense and interactive and was developed after extensive interaction with its community of users and potential users. Kristin Petrovich, President of HD EXPO-Createasphere, commented that, "REDucation answers a much-hoped for and asked for request from the community for this training. The design of REDucation will enable attendees to dig deeply into the capabilities of the camera and understand the entire process from start to finish. We are very excited to present this program in association with RED."

The popular VariCamp and P2 Workflow Workshops continue in cities around the country as Createasphere: LEARN announced dates for both sessions. P2 Workshops are set for Los Angeles (August 6-7, November 5-6) and New York (September 12-13.) VariCamps have been set for Chicago (June 9-11, ) New York (September 14 -16) and Los Angeles (November 1-3). The respected and long-running Panasonic workshops have been part of a collaborative educational relationship with HD EXPO since 2003.

Createasphere/LEARN also announced the launch of E-Tech later this year, a foundational workshop that covers entertainment technologies and how they affect the non-technical content creator including directors, producers, writers, and entry level technical team members. Additionally, Petrovich announced more dates for Demystifying Color for the Content Creator from Theory to Practice, a three-day ColorCamp 101 that introduces students to the physics of light, human vision and color as it relates to cinematography and image capture.

Jeffrey Seckendorf has joined Createasphere/LEARN as Workshops/Education Manager. Seckendorf, founder of Snaproll Films, is an award winning director and cinematographer whose impressive teaching credentials include over twenty years at the International Film and TV Workshops in Rockport, Maine. As a cinematographer, he was nominated for a Spirit Award for "Judy Berlin, " and he has won awards in Europe and the US. Seckendorf is well known as a spot and music video director and Director of Photography around the world. Petrovich commented, "We are thrilled to have an instructor and creative expert of Jeff's caliber join Createasphere. He is a quintessential teacher; he loves the art and can communicate it along with the practical. We are excited to work with him as we develop great education and expand the quality offerings already in place."

Petrovich concluded that, "Today, we find ourselves in a revolution of content creation and lifelong learning and career education is absolutely essential to navigate these lightning-fast times of change. As Createasphere/LEARN builds upon the reputation and success of HD EXPO's workshops, we are developing new and important education and training for our community to prepare them to be out in front of the changes and will continue to keep our eye on the best solutions.
