Message Systems Software Development Expert at Web Conferences
Message Systems, the premier provider of holistic, fast and flexible message management solutions, announced that its Director of Engineering, Wez Furlong, will share his best practices in software development at two upcoming web development conferences. His speaking sessions will take place at php|tek 2009 on May 20 in Chicago, IL and OSCON 2009 on July 22 in San Jose, CA.
A noted industry expert on PHP core development and open source, Wez will address, at both conferences, the need for best engineering practices in the software development lifecycle in a session entitled, "Getting it done." His presentation will address, in practical terms, a variety of software development topics, including managing the software development processes, meeting software deadlines, roadmap management, software testing and bug fixing.
A strong proponent of open source, Furlong has made major contributions to the PHP programming language core in the form of the streams and database abstraction layers, and has authored a number of extensions. Furlong specializes in maintaining the php.net server infrastructure and takes an active role in fostering the PHP extension developer community. Last year, Furlong moderated and led three sessions at OSCON 2008 titled "PHP Extension Writing, " "Hot Chocolate: Creating Cocoa Apps with PHP, " and "PDO: PHP Data Objects, " where he provided an in-depth understanding on topics such as the PHP engine and its runtime, and how to build native Mac apps using PHP.
"A key element of Message Systems' success is our rock star technical team, " said George Schlossnagle, President and CEO of Message Systems. "Our company is based on a true core of next-generation engineering, and we have always hired the best in the field. We're proud to have Wez Furlong sharing his knowledge with other engineers and helping to raise the bar on best practices for the entire industry."
As the Director of Engineering at Message Systems, Furlong designs new features and refinements while overseeing a team of product developers who are responsible for creating the fastest and most comprehensive message management platform on the market. Furlong has written numerous articles for various publications including php|architect, PHP Magazine, Oracle Technology Network and IBM developerWorks. He often speaks at PHP and open source conferences worldwide.
