Design Abounds At National Stationery Show

A design infusion will create a palpable buzz at the May 2009 National Stationery Show. Enriched with visually stunning bridal-themed vignettes, an expanded Demo Theater showcasing all things paper, a new direct adjacency to SURTEX and a presentation of the ever-clever LOUIE Award finalists, the show floor will come alive with energy and inspiration.

"This new format presents the connection between the abundant new product collections in social stationery today with the 2-dimensional art and design that will dress tomorrow's products. This creates the optimal environment for all participants in the market to discover new art, design and product innovations, " said Patti Stracher, show manager. "The synergy between the two – augmented by visual merchandising displays, demonstrations and educational programs – will present a wealth of resources for attendees and exhibitors."

An eye-catching and eclectic collection of table vignettes, emphasizing the breadth of wedding products set to debut at the Show, will take the stage this May. Showcasing designer paper tableware, invitations, ribbons and packaging, party favors and other products, the presentation will teach clever merchandising ideas to help retailers boost bridal sales in their stores.

A returning favorite, the Demo Theater will expand this year to include a new Watch & Learn series, addressing gift packaging, bow-making and affordable displays. These additions will complement the Daily Demos, presented by GREETINGS etc. magazine, which focus on apparel displays from paper, unique wedding favors, Japanese-style gift wraps, holiday dιcor, eco-friendly invites and artistic napkin folds. The Demo Theater will be located in aisle 2500.

Presenting some 300 exhibitors, SURTEX is the only show in North America focused exclusively on the sale and licensing of original art & design, with applications for several industries – stationery, greeting cards, giftwrap, tabletop, giftware, toys, ceramics, packaging, decorative fabrics, wall/floor coverings and more. The event has been held concurrently with the National Stationery Show – on different levels of New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center – since 1987. The new side-by-side presentation – with all exhibits on Level Three – will serve the marketplace well, creating greater efficiencies for all market participants. SURTEX will run Sunday, May 17 – Tuesday, May 19, 2009, from 9:00am-6:00pm.

The National Stationery Show is the premier market for social stationery, greeting cards, invitations, home office, writing instruments, designer partyware, wedding, juvenile and related lifestyle products. The 63rd annual edition will run May 17-20, 2009, at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, featuring approximately 1,000 exhibitors and attracting 14, 000 trade attendees. The new closing hour of the Show is noon on Wednesday, May 20th.
