BioFach China 2009

From 27th to 29th May 2009 the doors of BioFach China will open at a new location, the INTEX Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Over three days, the third staging of the trade fair for organic products, natural personal care and natural products will attract over 10,000 trade visitors, while 250 Chinese and international exhibitors are expected. BioFach China is thus underlining the significance of the organic products market for the People's Republic even against the background of the current economic uncertainty. Both exports as well as the domestic market are developing splendidly. In addition to the host country China, exhibitors from Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Austria, Thailand and the USA have already confirmed their participation.

This year, for the first time, German companies supported by the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (Bundesministerium für Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz – BMELV) will have the opportunity to participate within the framework of a German company joint stand in Shanghai. A total of eight companies have already confirmed their participation.

China, with an organic farming area of 1.6 million hectares, has a whole range of products and raw materials to offer the international eco sector. According to experts, organic food production in the People's Republic could increase over the next 10 years by 30-50% annually and account for 5% of the country's entire export volume as well as 1-2% of its domestic turnover. Currently China exports organic products worth around 350 million US Dollars. NürnbergMesse China and BioFach China are supporting the establishing of a sustainable foundation for the still relatively young Chinese organic products market.

In addition to the local suppliers, the fair is also directed at international companies who wish to actively shape and be involved in the up-and-coming market segment. "We are very happy that the international attention on our event is tangibly growing and that in 2009 we are also welcoming eight renowned exhibitors to the German joint stand. This is an important signal for the successful establishing of organic products from China as well as growing domestic demand for ecological products", explains Axel Bartkus, Managing Director NürnbergMesse China.

Comprehensive conference programme
The BioFach China conference has attracted an international, top-ranking array of participants. In this connection, among others, the patron of all worldwide BioFach events, the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), will be providing information about the international organic food markets, while the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) will offer an insight into the Asia-Pacific region. The theme spectrum at the conference extends from future perspectives for agricultural products in China and international trade regulations in the organic products market through to certification up to background information from the natural personal care, textiles and baby food market segments.

Key theme: organic products for babies
Trade visitors will be able to find out everything connected with organic products for the little ones at the first Organic Baby Event. The desire for reliable and safe foodstuffs is particularly great when it comes to baby food and demand is rising correspondingly. In this context the response to the premiere of this programme feature at the BioFach China 2009 Congress is also extremely positive. In the run-up to the event, over 100 participants have already registered for the Forum covering all aspects of baby food in ecological quality.

BioFach China will be held from 27th to 29th May 2009 at the INTEX Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Anyone who wants to see the fantastic mood at last year's BioFach China for themselves, can take a look at the film clip of business and action during the fair at www.biofach-china.de.
