Material Vision: Innovative Materials For Designers, Architects...

Natural or high-tech materials: the new generation of innovative materials is multi-functional and characterised by tailor-made features and forms. A selection of these new materials for technology, design and architecture will be on show at the Material Vision trade fair in Frankfurt am Main from 16 to 18 June 2009. Around 40 manufacturers of modern materials will be aiming to make contact with designers, product developers and architects and, in cooperation with them, to discover new areas of application for their materials. The trade fair will be supported by an extensive complementary programme from 16 to 18 June.

In Hall 4.1 of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre, the exhibition and Lecture Forum will offer trade visitors insights into the latest developments in the fields of materials research and applications. For the first time, Material Vision is being held parallel to Techtextil, International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens, and visiting both events will offer a host of synergetic effects because, together, Material Vision and Techtextil provide a comprehensive overview of the market for innovative materials.

In addition to the range of products on show at Material Vision, exhibitors will also present their latest products in brief lectures at the Lecture Forum on 16 and 18 June. On 17 June, the focus at the Lecture Forum will be on the presentation of several materials libraries, including Material ConneXion Cologne, MateriO Paris, Modulor Berlin and Materialarchiv Luzern. Subsequently, four university graduates from the fields of design, architecture or materials sciences will outline current projects dealing with the subject of materials in design and / or architecture. On this day, the Lecture Forum will be chaired by the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung).

The Design Plus Material Vision Award will also be presented on 17 June. The winners of this competition, which is organised by Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with the German Design Council, will be honoured in a ceremony open to trade visitors. For the Design Plus competition, the organisers single out products made using innovative materials or processing techniques. The award-winning products combine innovative and sustainable materials, successful design and intelligent functionality in a special way. 125 companies from 15 countries entered the international competition. Of the 160 products submitted, 36 were selected for the Design Plus Award. The presentation ceremony will be held at the Design Plus area in Hall 4.1 at 17.30 hrs on 17 June. There, visitors will also be able to see the award-winning products in a special exhibition throughout
