The Technosummits Annual Broadband Connect Summit In London

Digital Britain and the promise of next generation broadband networks will lead the agenda at the Technosummits Annual Broadband Connect Summit, taking place in London on 16 June 2009. With Lord Carter due to publish his final report in June on the vision for Digital Britain, this industry summit could not be more topical.

The June event will centre its discussions on the technical and economic viability of next generation broadband access. Speakers include representatives from BT, Virgin Media, Easynet, broadband industry groups, FTTH Council Europe, the UK Government and the communications regulator Ofcom.

The Broadband Connect Summit, now in its third year, is attracting key senior executives from telecommunications, internet service provider, cable, satellite, broadcast and media companies across Europe as it offers a more personal and intimate environment to network, exchange ideas and discuss critical industry issues.

"In this hyper-competitive market, with consumers demanding ever faster broadband access, the issues are around the required investment to upgrade network infrastructure to deliver superfast broadband, " says Joseph de Villiers, the founder and chief executive of Technosummits. "As ever, Technosummits will provide an exciting platform for the stakeholders in this industry to have an open discussion on whether investment in next generation networks will require government intervention or whether it should be left to the market forces."

Dr.William Cooper, the founder and chief executive of the informitv consultancy, will chair the event. "I am very pleased to have been invited again to chair this summit, " he says. "It will be interesting to involve a great mix of telecommunications operators and service providers together with government and public sector representatives to discuss the future of our digital economy."

The "Straight Talking" interview, which has become a crowd puller in recent events, will feature a special guest to be interviewed by a leading television news personality, to be announced soon. Previous interviewers include Adrian Finighan from CNN and Jon Snow from Channel 4 News.

Broadband Connect Summit is one of the premier events in the broadband technology sector, bringing together industry leaders and stakeholders to examine and discuss key issues that face the industry today. It is not a conventional conference or tradeshow but features a unique informal format that ensures the opportunity to discuss, dissect and digest critical issues and presentations.

The Broadband Connect Summit takes place on 16 June 2009 at the Courthouse Hotel in London W1.
