New highlight of the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair

Being the largest houseware fair in Asia, the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair will stage its 24th edition from 20 to 23 April, 2009 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Year on year, this fair has proved to be a trading hub to an international mix of exhibitors and buyers for houseware and lifestyle products, such as tableware, kitchenware, home decorations, bathroom accessories, home textile & carpet, and handicrafts etc. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Hong Kong Houseware Fair 2009 is expected to attract more than 2400 exhibitors from all over the world showcasing a wide variety of innovative lifestyle products and home decoration items. This year, the fair categorizes exhibitors in various special zones; 'Hall of Elegance', 'Posh Corner', 'Health & Wellness', 'Paintings & Objets d'Art' and the highlighted 'World of Pet Supplies'.

The 'World of Pet Supplies' not only allows exhibitors to promote products to the quality buyers from the pet industry, it also gives you an opportunity to meet new potential buyers from the houseware industry.

The world pet market is on the rise. According to Euromonitor International research firm, the global market for pet food and pet supplies reached USD 56 billion in 2008 and the projected sales in 2009 will hit USD 65 billion. North America, Western Europe and Asia Pacific occupy the top 3 of the worldwide pet market in terms of sales; while Latin America and Eastern Europe are tapping into this high potential market. Euromonitor also anticipated that the pet sales in Eastern Europe will double its size to USD 2.6 billion by 2009.

The high demand of pet food and pet supplies is a result of increasing pet ownership and continual pursuit of quality upgrading. Nowadays, the world demographics are changing and more and more singles and the elderly own pets as their company, which pushes up the number of pet ownership. Besides, pets are now regarded as members of the families and so the owners are more willing to spend more on purchasing premium pet food & supplements, fashionable pet grooming and accessory items, together with better sanitary and pet care products etc.

In response to this rising world demand of pet supplies, the 'World of Pets Supplies' has a good concentration of Asian exhibitors and features various products for sourcing; including pet products and services, aquatic products, veterinary products and shop fitting & packaging.

With this new focus, the 'World of Pets Supplies' will draw in pet exhibitors and pet buyers under the same roof for business opportunities and information exchange.
