Fpd And Led/oled Lighting Show Held At Tokyo In April

On coming April 15-17, the world's FPD trade show "FINETECH JAPAN" will be held at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan. This year, in addition to the concurrent shows "FPD Components & Materials Expo" and "Display 2009" (FPD show featuring LCD, PDP, OLED, 3D Display, Electronic Paper, etc.), "TOUCH PANEL JAPAN" and "LIGHTING JAPAN" has been newly established. The worsened economical condition leads to a trend toward reducing investment, but the number of experts taking advantage of exhibitions for R&D, cost reduction and long-term investment has been increasing. These shows will surely be major events for the professionals in the FPD industry and the LED/OLED lighting industry.

An exhibition specialized in touch panel with expectations for increasing possibility in the future, especially in FPD industry. You will be able to see not only the Touch Panel Module/Display, but also cutting-edge technologies such as related components/materials, installed software, manufacturing equipments, testing equipments, IC and so on.

An exhibition specialized in next-generation lighting technologies, which is now attracting great attention from all over the world as the recent rapid growth of the market. You will be able to see devices, components and materials necessary for R&D, design and manufacturing of lighting devices such as LED and OLED on-site. Since R&D is currently very active on the next-generation SSL (solid-state lighting), this exhibition is drawing keen attention from not only Japan, but also Taiwan, South Korea, the United States and Europe. Next-generation lighting is also focused as one of the environmental protection technologies in many countries. As a result, 250 exhibitors, more than originally expected, have already decided to participate in the show. Also there will be a "German Pavilion" and a "Taiwan Pavilion".

One of the highlights in FPD related products is the electronic paper displayed by BRIDGESTONE. It is now winning popularity as an alternative paper because of its no limit memory characteristics, all-reflective, and high-view angle. BRIDGESTONE's electronic paper has been introduced in January 2008, and already been started to spread out. It is apt to draw attention from even the press all over the world. New touch panel with "capacitance" from TOUCH PANEL LABORATORIES is also worth seeing.

In addition to the above, testing/repairing/measuring products are also well provided. SENSOFAR-TECH from Spain will display products measuring 3D profile with 0.1nm resolution, for the first time in the industry, combining 2 different functions from confocal microscope and roughness gauge. KONICA MINOLTA SENSING also plans to display "spectroradiometer" toward R&D and manufacturing process for LED and OLED.

It seems that LED devices from LG Innotek, CBC, GENELITE, O-WELL, and the newest OLED devices distinctive for surface luminescence, thinness, and mercury free provided by LUMIOTEC may draw attention. Not only the powerful next-generation lighting companies such as MOMO ALLIANCE and KOHA, but also the leading Japanese companies for components and materials such as SUMITOMO BAKELITE, DAICEL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, SUMITOMO CHEMICAL, TAMURA, TAIYOINK MFG., NIPPON ELECTRIC GLASS, and THE FURUKAWA ELECTRIC will exhibit at the show. For the devices and equipment, spin cleaning/coater equipment (ACSES), vacuum evaporation system and vacuum annealing equipment (AYUMI INDUSTRY), nanoimprinting machine ST50 (TOSHIBA MACHINE), LED packaging solution (TOWA), OLED lighting manufacturing equipment (TOKKI), dispenser (MUSASHI ENGINEERING, SHINWA) are the must-see.

Other than these, radiation technology essential for downsizing/thinning LED lighting will be exhibited, and TEIJIN, DENKI KAGAKU KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA, SIIX, S-DI ELECTRONICS JAPAN, FUJI POLYMER INDUSTRIES, SOKEN CHEMICAL & ENGINEERING will also participate in the show as exhibitors.

Light-Emitting Diode (LED) market for 2008 has reached up to 4, 000 million USD due to the spread of the price reduction. It is expected to expand up to 4.13 billion USD in 2013, more than 10 times of what it was in 2008. In fact, many companies have decided to participate in the show from not only Japan but also from many countries focusing on LED/OLED chip devices such as the United States, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan and China, and high global interests will be concentrated. LIGHTING JAPAN will be recognized as an international exhibition where new next-generation lighting technologies can be seen from here on, and will definitely attract a lot of attention from researchers and developers.

Welcoming the speakers invited from the following companies, the technical conference will take place as a concurrent event of FINETECH JAPAN.

■Keynote Session: Panasonic, Sony, Japan Broadcasting
■TAIWAN FPD FORUM: AUO, SiPix, CIPO
■KOREA FPD FORUM: Samsung Mobile Display, LG Display, Display Bank
■CHINA FPD FORUM: BOE, Visionox, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology
Besides the above, the seminars with more than 100 speakers are being scheduled.

For LIGHTING JAPAN, Keynote Session is also scheduled, welcoming lecturers from 4 leading companies, Osram, Panasonic Electric Works, GE, Philips Lighting. Since such BIG 4 companies are all gathering at one place, it will be a notable event for all over the world. Other than that, 35 lecturers from the powerful companies will be conducted. For many countries focusing on the new lighting technology such as LED, it will be a great opportunity to learn the latest industry trend.
