Industry Leaders Gather To Discuss Role Of Identity In Business

How can organisations use identity information responsibly to grow the business AND combat fraud? Business leaders will gather in London on 20-21 May to discuss the increasing value of identity information in enterprise.

Following the success of the inaugural Identity Matters Summit in 2007, the event will once again open its doors on 20-21st May in central London, and will be sponsored by identity management specialists, GB Group.

In the current economic climate, public and private sector organisations must make the most effective use possible of the resources they already have. If used effectively and responsibly, identity information is a highly valuable asset for business that reaches far beyond a rudimentary knowledge of location and habits.

This year's Summit includes presentations by the Information Commissioner's Office and Alun Michael MP, UK Chair of the Internet Governance Forum, looking at how businesses can use personal identity information responsibly, and from the London School of Economics on how businesses can start putting a capital value on their verified customer data.

The Summit will also explore how companies such as O2, HiFX, Garlik and Virgin Games, are adapting to make the most of the knowledge they have about their customers, for effective and responsible trading.

The event will explore how businesses need to:

Protect against identity-related crimes such as ID fraud or account take over
Maximise operational efficiency in marketing, fraud, debt control and customer services
Make use of digital technologies to reduce the cost of customer interactions
