Big+bih In April 2009 Is Expected To Welcome Over 100,000 Visitors

The Department of Export Promotion (DEP), the Ministry of Commerce, in cooperation with 7 supportive associations, plans to revive confidence in Thai exports by emphasizing Thailand's position as the production and export center for gifts and houseware merchandises through Bangkok International Gift Fair and Bangkok International Houseware Fair (BIG+BIH). The event will be held during 21-26 April 2009 on more than 47, 000 square meters exhibition ground at Hall 1-8, IMPACT, Muangthong Thani, with over 100,000 visitors expected.

BIG+BIH have always taken important role in boosting the growth of Thai gift and houseware sales in global market. This April, the organizer expands prospect base into a broader business groups by offering full scale interior solution services to clients in real estate and hospitality industries.

The next BIG+BIH is scheduled for 21 to 26 April 2009, by opening for business negotiations during the first 4 days (21-24 April) from 10.00 to 18.00 hrs, followed by general public days on the weekend of 25-26 April from 10.00 to 21.00 hrs. Conducted for 27th time, BIG+BIH in April 2009 will run under the new concept 'Unique Lifestyle', and are expected to draw more than 700 exhibitors - accounting for 1, 850 booths, and up to 100, 000 visitors – 18,000 during trade days and 90, 000 during public days.

The main objective of BIG+BIH April 2009 is to underline Thailand's importance as the most resourceful production and export hub for gifts, premiums, home decorative items and houseware in Asia. These world-class fairs are highly recognized by international buyers as the platform to meet face-to-face with leading designers, manufacturers and exporters in Thailand and the best venue to source vast variety of high quality gifts, decorative items & handicrafts, artificial flowers/plants, spa products, home textile, stationery & office supplies, Christmas decorative items, toys & games, and other household products.

Mr. Rachane Potjanasuntorn, Director-General of the Department of Export Promotion, disclosed that BIG+BIH April 2009 receive substantial support from 7 business associations comprising Thai Gifts & Premiums Association, Thai Toy Industry Association, Thai Housewares Trade Association, Thai Stationery and Office Supply Association, Home Decorative Design Association, Northern Handicrafts Manufacturer and Exporters Association (NOHMEX), and Design & Objects Association. Their public relations scheme will be expanded to cover broader target groups by offering full-scale interior solution services in addition to practical aesthetic design and high quality products.

"We have familiar faces who visit every BIG+BIH without miss, and their word of mouth is the most important PR tool that draws more visitors to this unique event." Mr. Rachane added. "Throughout the past 10 years, BIG+BIH have received ever-growing international recognition while Thai business proprietors also find the event an ideal venue to be inspired. Innovative design, state-of-the-art technology, dedication to quality can be found throughout the fairground."

Thailand's export volume of lifestyle goods in 2008 has reached USD 3, 073.69 million, rose by 2.48%. The figure is contributed by the followings: tableware and kitchenware gaining USD 728.28 million, rose by 6.36%, toy products USD 247.02 million, rose by 17.76%, home textile USD 361.45 million, rose by 8.71, gifts, premiums and home decorative items USD 416.99 million, rose by 2.36%, and stationery and office supplies USD 75.56 million, rose by 7.36%.

The highlight of BIG+BIH April 2009, other than brand new merchandises on display, is the Design Hall where remarkable design products are featured. Design Hall is served as a showcase of cutting-edge designs, prototypes and award-winning products. It is the main stage to express world-class status of lifestyle products from Thailand. A list of activities, including Design in Thailand Exhibition, Design Forum Exhibition, Design Circle Exhibition, Demark Exhibitions, the 14th National Ceramics Exhibition, and Trade Mart Tour, have been planned to boost ongoing development in the industry.
