Gulfood 2009: Swiss Quality For Culinary Delights

Swiss companies are well known for their high-quality products as well as their expert and reliable service. In the "SWISS Pavilion" at Gulfood 2009 from 23 to 26 February 2009 in Dubai twelve Swiss manufacturers are presenting a varied range of food and non-food products for the trade and professional catering. Natural high-quality raw materials, strict controls and decades of manufacturing expertise are the key factors behind the success of Swiss food and drink manufacturers. Swiss chocolate, cheese specialities and other foods stand for top quality in combination with great taste. But Switzerland also has a lot to offer in other areas too.

The country enjoys an excellent international reputation as a producer of leading-edge technology and as a reliable supply partner. Swiss companies attach great importance to research and development, ensuring that products are constantly further developed and adapted to new trends and customer needs. It is therefore no surprise that exports of Swiss products have increased steadily over recent years – including to the United Arab Emirates. To meet the increase in demand here many Swiss companies have already set up their own branch establishments or sales offices locally, creating the platform for smooth communication and excellent service.

"SWISS Pavilion" with more exhibitors and space
At Gulfood 2009, the number-one trade show for the sector in the Middle East, twelve Swiss exhibitors are presenting their products in the two "SWISS Pavilions", which once again will be located in the Sheikh Rashid Hall for the Food and in Hall 2 for the Equipment sector. The exhibition area has been impressively expanded compared with last year and reflects the great interest of Swiss companies in the event. Seven companies are exhibiting their products and services for the first time to trade show visitors in Dubai. The Swiss joint participations have once again been organised by Osec in cooperation with the Swiss Business Hub Dubai and fial, the Federation of the Swiss Food Industries.

For the sophisticated palate
Visitors to the "SWISS Pavilion" in the Sheikh Rashid Hall will find a broad range of high-quality food and confectionery products. Several exhibitors are showcasing fine chocolate specialities to impress the most discerning consumer. One exhibiting firm which is internationally known for its fine handmade fresh chocolate and confectionery creations is again presenting a number of new products. They include premium truffles, refined praliné assortments, sugar-reduced pralinés and a selection of fine biscuits to accompany tea or coffee. Another exhibitor is placing the emphasis on seasonal chocolate products specifically targeted at the female or male market. Numerous other specialities will also be on show including peanut butter pralinés. The professional range of another manufacturer meets the needs of hotels, patisseries and chocolatiers who produce their own dessert creations.

The products on show will include high-quality Swiss chocolate, coatings, chocolate fillings, gels and fruit preserves for creative further processing. This manufacturer's milk chocolate was voted the best of its type worldwide in 2007. The product assortment also features an instant mousse which does not contain any gelatine and an original chocolate sauce made using cocoa beans from Sao Tomé. Coffee lovers will also find plenty to enjoy at the "SWISS Pavilion". One exhibitor is presenting exclusive coffee specialities made using original coffee beans from various selected coffee-growing regions. An energy drinks manufacturer is introducing a new range and consumers can look forward to interesting new taste directions such as maté, guarana and Swiss Alpine herbs. Two different companies are adding to the variety on show at the "SWISS Pavilion" with their high-quality natural mineral waters from the Swiss Alps. Bulk consumers and catering services are the target customers for a company with its premium product range from the food sector. These products do not contain any MSG, trans fats, preservatives or dyes.

Sleeping comfort and professional technology
Swiss companies are also well known abroad for the superior quality of the technical equipment they supply to gastronomic establishments and top-ranking hotels. At the "SWISS Pavilion" in Hall 2 five Swiss companies are presenting products and services from the non-food sector. These include first-class textiles which endow hotels and restaurants with a stylish ambience as well as table and bed linen made of organically grown cotton. The down and feather-filled bedding from another manufacturer bearing the "Öko Tex 100" seal of quality ensures excellent sleeping comfort and a feeling of wellbeing. A further manufacturer, well known for providing intelligent technical solutions and innovative concepts to the catering sector, is presenting its wide-ranging services to interested trade visitors in Hall 2. Technical equipment for top-quality coffee enjoyment is supplied by another well known Swiss company in the shape of its modern coffee machines for perfect coffee preparation in all variations with milk.
