Industry Looks To Aircraft Interiors Expo

The aircraft interiors industry sees Aircraft Interiors Expo 2009 playing a vital role in meeting the challenge of the global economic downturn. The event, which takes place at the Hamburg Messe, Germany from 31 March – 2 April 2009, is on course to be the biggest in the show's 10 year history.

Aircraft Interiors Expo Industry Consultant Vern Alg, commented: "The aircraft interiors industry is at the forefront when it comes to experiencing the effects of change and there is plenty of that happening at the moment. However, change brings with it opportunities. For example, the consolidation of airlines, which has been taking place for some time now, will almost certainly be accelerated by the current economic downturn. This will create a need for fresh liveries and designs as the reinvented entities seek to stamp their new corporate identities."

Vern Alg, former Director, Project Management at Continental Airlines, also pointed to the ways in which the interiors industry is meeting the demand for optimised fuel efficiency, stating that: "Aircraft Interiors Expo is increasingly showcasing weight saving solutions across a range of equipment and components to offer airlines a route to saving on fuel costs. The industry is also responding with concepts to facilitate the airlines' need to accommodate more passengers without compromising comfort."

He concluded that overall, the challenge to the interiors industry in the coming months will be to reduce cost without adversely affecting the passenger experience and while maintaining profitability. He said: "To keep abreast of this changing scene it is essential to be part of Aircraft Interiors Expo, which brings together the products, technologies and the people that are driving the industry forward." Aircraft Interiors Expo takes place from 31 March – 2 April 2009 at the Hamburg Messe in Germany.
