Fiturtech Showcases at Fitur-09
The influence of blogs and evaluation Portals as a promotional tool will form the basis of the FITURTECH forum, which will be held from 28 to 30 January, when FITUR '09 is open exclusively to industry professionals. The emergence of the Internet has lead to a real revolution of the tourism industry. The second phase of this transformation is marked by the appearance of interactive platforms where customers can express their opinions and exchange experiences on tourism services. To improve business owners´ awareness of the influence of these tools on the management of their business, the Institute for Hotel Technology -ITH- and FITUR are organising the FITURTECH 09 seminars for the third consecutive year.
The success of previous editions, which brought together a large number of tourism professionals, has led the organisers to extend this year´s event from two to three days.
The opening conference scheduled for 28 January, under the title Social networks in the tourism industry, will present the transcendence of Internet blogs. Forums for exchange and communication such as blogs have changed traditional marketing methods within the hospitality sector, transforming customers' opinions into a basic promotional tool. These opinions are becoming a powerful social marketing tool for travellers who are more concerned about the experience they will get from their trip than the product itself.
Marketing using social media with video and the relationship with mobile technology will be the theme of the second presentation, which will take place on Thursday 29 January. The use of audiovisual materials, such as photos and videos, to present products and services via mobile technology has emerged as a new opportunity to reach the public using a different method. Spain currently has one of the highest rates for access to mobile Internet and increasingly more users are using applications related to connectivity and leisure.
The seminar to be held on 30 January will include a round table under the title Debate on the future of tourism communication media. Different experts on traditional media and 2.0 technology, which is being adapted to this new context, will exchange ideas on the world of blogs, podcasts and how a small tourism company can use this type of media.
It is within this context that the Second International Meeting of Tourism Bloggers will take place. This event will bring together the most distinguished commentators from the sector to talk about their travel experiences.
The previous edition of FITUR in 2008 brought together, within a single venue of over 200,000 square metres, approximately 13,500 companies from 170 countries and regions, thus confirming the event as the ideal setting for the FITURTECH platform for dissemination and debate.
