Fruit Logistica 2009: Focus on Innovations

The spotlight will be on outstanding innovations in the fresh produce industry at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2009 (4-6 February). For the fourth year in a row, Messe Berlin and FRUCHTHANDEL MAGAZIN (Düsseldorf) are inviting exhibitors at the leading international trade fair for fruit and vegetable marketing to submit applications for the FRUIT LOGISTICA Innovation Award (FLIA). Presented for exceptional innovations in the fruit and vegetable business and related service sectors, the award honours new products or services that truly break new ground in the fresh produce sector. The FLIA has become the most important industry award and has attracted widespread interest among trade specialists and the media. The competition is open to all companies exhibiting at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2009 that have introduced an exceptional innovation to the market since 1 November 2007. Applications will be accepted until 28 November 2008.

An expert jury panel will select the ten best innovations to be nominated for the FRUIT LOGISTICA Innovation Award. These innovations will be prominently displayed in a special exhibition area. During the first two days of the trade fair, more than 50, 000 visitors from 125 countries will have an opportunity to vote for the innovation of the year. The winner will be honoured at an official award ceremony on 6 February 2009. Previous FLIA winners include "Salanova" lettuce developed by Rijk Zwaan (2006), "Vitamini's" vegetable snacks from the FresQ/Rainbow Growers Group (2007) and "Intense" tomatoes from Nunhems Netherlands BV (2008).
