Growth of Russia's construction shows no sign of relenting

Russia's trade fair for construction and interiors celebrates a jubilee. Already for the 15th time, MosBuild is held on 31 March-3 April 2009 at Moscow's biggest exhibition centres - Expocentr and Crocus Expo.

MosBuild is firmly established as the premier annual B2B marketplace for suppliers and specialists from the building and interiors trade. The growth of Russia's largest building and interior exhibition shows no sign of relenting after another record breaking event in the first week of April this year. The 2008 edition of MosBuild hosted 2,751 companies and expanded to more than 90,500 sqm of net exhibition space. Visitor figures were around 80,100, and the percentage of trade visitors (97 %) was even higher than in the previous years. Official national groups came from 18 nations.

New halls available for further expansion could see MosBuild 2007 grow beyond 80,000 sqm, and Russia hosted its first trade event to exceed such scale. This year the show already grew to more than 90, 500 sqm. With nearly nine months to go before the opening of MosBuild 2009, the event has more confirmed exhibitors and most of the exhibition space has already been allocated.

With additional halls available in the new pavilion 3 at Crocus, exhibitors are able to increase their spaces and individual sectors can expand even more. MosBuild now comprises 25 separate, co-located exhibitions that cover a huge range of construction, building and interiors related products and services. They are at Expocentr: "Buildex" with Building Automation Systems, Building Materials & Equipment, Build Electro, Hardware & Tools, Plumbing & HeatVent and "Cersanex" with Bathrooms, Ceramica and Technoceramica.

Crocus will host "WindowBuild" combining Aluminium Technologies, Facades & Architecture, Gates & Automation, Glass Technologies and Window Technologies; "MosInteriors" with Decotex, Doors & Locks, Flooring, Interiors Finishes, Interiors Plus and Paints; "Country Living" with Country Home, Landscaping, Outdoor Lifestyle and Saunas & Pools; as well as "Stonex" combining Decostone and Stonebuild. .

Due to a different participation of important exhibitor groups of the windows & doors industry, this sector is being held as "WindowBuild" in the even years and as "WinTecExpo" in the odd years.

MosBuild was first held in 1995 and its meteoric growth reflects the massive development of the building industry in Russia. In recent years, the construction industry has undergone significant positive changes and at present, it is one of the key sectors of economic development in Russia. New commercial and domestic properties and widespread refurbishment projects have resulted in a boom period for the building sector, particularly in the metropolis Moscow. Moreover, increased incomes have stimulated the demand for a wide variety of products and services from around the world.
