Asia Television Forum 2008 On Track For Record Year

With the recently announced cancellation of AMAZIA, Asia Television Forum (ATF)'s momentum is set to gather pace and outstrip the remaining available space. The 9th edition of ATF looks set to be a record breaker. "With over 70% of the event space already booked 6 months before the event, we are pleased with ATF's continuing impressive growth. ATF is now regarded as the must-attend event for industry professionals serious about doing business in the region. ATF serves as the TV broadcasting and new media content marketplace bringing together International programming sellers and Asia Pacific buyers, " said Ms Michelle Lim, General Manager for Reed Exhibitions. The 9th Asia Television Forum is scheduled to take place 10-12 December 2008.

Started as a hotel format event first at Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort, Singapore in 2000 before moving in 2004 to the larger Shangri-La Hotel in the city, ATF will take on a new exhibition format at a bigger venue this year. Located at the heart of Singapore, Suntec Convention Centre is in close proximity to numerous hotel chains, shopping malls, restaurants, foodcourts and clubs, offering limitless possibilities for wine, dine and entertainment.

New enhancements on the show floor this year will include more meeting areas for participants, option for suite-style stand equipped with private meeting spaces, and also an exclusive Buyers Lounge with facilities such as massage chairs.

"For the past 4 years the ATF has been our choice for reaching buyers in Asia. It has grown into a must attend event for us and we are happy to be supporting it for the 5th time this year", said Ed Sharples, Managing Director of Endemol SEA.

To-date, ATF 2008 has renewed participation with national groups including France, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Spain and Taiwan. Key exhibiting companies include 2waytraffic (Netherlands), 4Kids Entertainment (USA), Alfred Haber Distribution (USA), All3Media (United Kingdom), Al Jazeera Children's Channel (Qatar), BBC Worldwide (Hong Kong), CABLEready (USA), Channel 4 Learning (UK), Decode Entertainment Inc (Canada), Deutsche Welle (Germany), Dori Media Distribution (Israel), Endemol (Netherlands), Eros International (India), Gateway4M (Germany), Just for Laughs (Canada), Media of Medias Public Company (Thailand), MICO/NHK (Japan), MTV Networks (Australia), Multi Development Corporation (Malaysia), Outright Distribution (UK), Peppermint Asia (Malaysia), RDF Rights (United Kingdom), Russian State Archive of Television & Radio Program (Russia), Spiegel TV (Germany), Studio100 (Germany), Telescreen (Netherlands), Telefe International (Argentina), Televisa (USA), TPI (USA, TV Azteca (Mexico), Worldwide Entertainment (Australia) and Zee Entertainment Enterprises (India).

In line with a focus on emerging digital trends, ATF 2008 will also organise an inaugural feature on new media anchored by providers of platforms for the delivery, management and distribution of content.

"ATF has been the leading TV programming event in Asia, and has consistently been the forerunner in featuring upcoming trends related to the industry. We are very happy to be supporting this event for the 8th time, and are excited to see more new media showcases and cross platform content buyers in this coming edition, said Mathieu Bejot, Executive Director of TV France International."

The 5th edition of the Media Financing Forum, the 2nd edition of the Content Protection Seminar, and the ever popular SuperPitch will return with more thought-provoking sessions from well-known speakers. Details of which will be released shortly.
