GaLaBau 2008: Full Range For The Green Sector

The 18th GaLaBau exhibition takes place in Nürnberg from 17-20 September, when landscape gardeners, local authorities, planners and architects can source information about new products in the green sector at this four-day event. The International Trade Fair for Urban Green and Open Spaces does credit to its name with 950 exhibitors expected from 25 nations. The products on display range from construction and maintenance machinery and equipment, materials, components and plants to urban design and transport. Also present with separate presentations at GaLaBau are the playground equipment manufacturers in the PLAYGROUND segment and the golf sector with the first "German Golf Course Conference".

The increased number of exhibitors shows there is no way round GaLaBau for anyone offering or looking for products for the green market. Some 25 per cent of the exhibiting companies offer construction machinery and equipment and another quarter maintenance machinery and equipment, which means half the products come from the machinery segment. One of these exhibitors is AVANT TECNO Deutschland GmbH of Eppertshausen, for which GaLaBau is the ideal platform. "Here we can present our new products and trends to users and get their opinions straight away, " says Managing Director Thomas Sterkel.

The exhibition is also an important industry get-together for him: "We talk to many old customers about their experiences with our machinery." AVANT TECNO has exhibited at GaLaBau for ten years. "The date in September has proved to be exactly right for talking to customers. Autumn and winter are used to decide what new machinery is needed." And last but not least, the exhibition is a good mood indicator for AVANT TECNO.

Hands-on display of products
The attractive exhibition concept with a full range of products for the green sector attracts both exhibitors and a professional audience to Nürnberg every two years. Personal discussions and the hands-on display of products make a combination that really convinces the practical experts and benefits companies interested in the end user's opinion. These include, for example, SOLO Kleinmotoren GmbH in Sindelfingen, which is exhibiting at GaLaBau this year for the first time. The manufacturer of landscape maintenance equipment is aware of the importance of exhibitions. "Landscape contractors and local authorities largely use the exhibition as information platform for their investment decisions. The "hands-on" aspect is very much in demand, " says Gerhard König, Advertising and Public Relations Manager. The professional target group and the high frequency of visitors at GaLaBau are ideal for companies to get practical assessments of their products. "The dialogue with practical experts is very important for us for receiving ideas on equipment and possibly optimizing sales policy estimates."

Creative ideas
Exhibitors present both their company and their products at GaLaBau, as the opportunity for personal contact is also used for cultivating the company's image. The advertising alliance of Arena and Santuro pursues another alternative concept. Here the manufacturers of the products remain in the background – the focus is on the design solutions with precast concrete blocks and wall systems. "We want to generate creative ideas this year, " explains Albrecht Braun, General Manager of the licensor, braun – Ideen aus Stein of Amstetten. "Santuro and Arena stand for creative design possibilities in garden and landscape construction. We meet the target group for this product segment at GaLaBau."

Whatever concept the exhibitors adopt for their stands, one thing applies to all: GaLaBau is the most important event for suppliers in the green sector to find and cultivate contacts, present their products and get feedback.

"Golf Congress 2008" as part of "German Golf Course Conference"
From this year on, the leading exhibition for landscaping is the new platform for the construction, maintenance and management of golf courses. The "Golf Village" in hall 4A is the central get-together for this target group, as the major German golf associations present their services here on an attractive and appropriately designed communication area. Companies specializing in golf course construction, maintenance and management prove their expertise in the surroundings of the "Golf Village". The "German Golf Course Conference" is supplemented by companies firmly established in the relevant GaLaBau product segments for many years, e.g. landscape maintenance. Short presentations and platform discussions in the "Golf Village" examine the subject from many different aspects.

All Germany's leading golf associations are involved in the "Golf Congress 2008", which takes place in CCN Ost in the Congress Center Nürnberg on 17-18 September. The varied two-day programme presents many lectures on topical issues from the golf sector.

The PLAYGROUND segment – action in the green sector
The playground equipment manufacturers have always been an important and numerically large group of exhibitors at GaLaBau. After all, the playground and landscaping sectors have a lot to do with each other, as hardly a park exists without at least one playground. And those who plan and design the park also determine the playground equipment. GaLaBau 2008 shows a bigger spectrum of playground equipment and leisure facilities than ever. The products on display are especially intended for architects, planners, local authorities, housing development companies, hotels, leisure parks, camping sites or nursery schools. The focus is no longer just on the young public, but more effort than ever is being put into multi-generation concepts. The new PLAYGROUND segment in hall 1 with its special show on "Multi-generation Playgrounds" presents new future-orientated aspects of this issue.
