Caravan Salon Düsseldorf

Providing sustenance plays a decisive role in the holidays and a visit to the local weekly market is a must on every holiday. All the better then if you have your own kitchen right there with you and can freshly prepare whatever you feel like at any particular moment. Although the kitchens in caravans and mobile homes are somewhat smaller than at home, in terms of facilities and equipment you now hardly have to forego anything. And with a little improvisation you can also produce genuine culinary masterpieces even in small kitchens. You will find ideas on this, recipes you can cook yourself and tips from professional chefs at Caravan Salon Düsseldorf from 29 August up to 7 September 2008 daily in the Caravanning cooking studio in Hall 12.

Daily from 11.00 to 14.00 hrs the cooking-duel chefs Stefan Wiertz, Carsten Dohrs or Matthias Ruta will be your hosts taking you through an entertaining and informative cooking programme in the Caravanning cooking studio in Hall 12. While they themselves are working with the cooking spoon between 11.00 and 12.00 hrs, from 13.00 to 14.00 hrs they will be supported by a daily-alternating television or star-rated chef who lets you look over his shoulder and passes on valuable, professional tricks to the fair visitors.

The celebrity guests include Martin Baudrexel, Björn Freitag and Kolja Kleeberg as well as the star-rated chefs Lea Linster, Dieter Müller and Alfons Schuhbeck. They will take the visitors on a culinary journey of Europe and cook specialities from the most popular holiday countries Italy, Spain, France and Germany. In addition they will provide tips on how you can pep up your favourite dishes from home while you are on your travels with fresh ingredients form the country you happen to be in. To ensure that the visitors do not miss out on any tips and they can also cook the recipes themselves on their travels, these will be available at CARAVAN SALON as a practical collection to take away.

On the stage the chefs will have a kitchen unit with the typical three-flame gas cooker at their disposal similar to the one found in modern leisure vehicles. From a stand the visitors will have the best view of the pots and pans, in addition the action will be shown live on a large screen behind the stage so that every move by the professionals can be exactly followed.

In the afternoon from 14.00 hrs things will then also get interesting for the young visitors to the fair, because then the renowned TV chef René Steinbach will invite interested youngsters to his children's cookery school once an hour. Each time 10 children are allowed to take to the stage and are supplied with aprons and chefs' hats just like the professionals. In the 20-minute cookery session they are taught by René Steinbach how to prepare simple, light foods, which also turn out well on holiday. And of course the self-prepared meal can also be eaten straight away afterwards.
