Industry Giants Enter The Mobile Zone at IBC2008

London IT, Telecom and Broadcast companies have signed-up to enter the Mobile Zone at IBC2008 as the European market for the delivery of broadcast content to mobile devices continues to grow. Qualcomm, a developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, is the Platinum Sponsor and will showcase its MediaFLO mobile broadcast platform. Expway, Nagravision, Newport Media and Siano Mobile Silicon are amongst the industry leaders that have already signed-up for the Mobile Zone.

The Mobile Zone at IBC2008 is designed as a visitor attraction and will bring together many of the organisations and technologies that are emerging as major forces in Mobile TV. It provides a unique opportunity for application developers, content providers and technology companies to showcase their capabilities at the heart of the broadcast industry's leading international conference and exhibition.

The Mobile Zone at IBC2008 will be accompanied by a series of Business Briefings to which attendance is free. These briefings will examine some of the issues and opportunities arising from this revolution in broadcast content delivery in further detail and are intended to reinforce and complement the established peer reviewed, paid-delegate IBC Conference.

"Each year, the Mobile Zone brings together the latest and most innovative developments in mobile content, management and delivery, and this year we expect broadcast TV and value-added services to generate high interest, " said Chem Assayag, senior director of business development, EMEA for Qualcomm MediaFLO Technologies. "We are confident that the technologies and services demonstrated this year will provide attendees with a better understanding of the immediate and long-term revenue opportunities in the mobile broadcast space."

Commenting on the development of The Mobile Zone at IBC2008, Mike Crimp, COO, IBC said: "We are delighted with the success of the Mobile Zone over the last 3 years and excited by the pace of innovation in both technology and content. The proliferation of mobile devices and their increasing use as a tool for the delivery of broadcast content will be a major force in the development of the industry of the coming years and it is natural for IBC, the world's leading broadcast event, to be taking a lead in setting the agenda."

The Mobile Zone at IBC2008 is being jointly developed and marketed by IBC, IT Europa and BPL. The IBC2008 exhibition takes place from 12 - 16 September 2008 at the RAI, Amsterdam.
