The Promotional Gift Trade Fair - Promogift-08

IFEMA is already preparing for the fourth edition of the Promotional Gift Trade Fair, Promogift-08, which is due to take place between 1st and 3rd September 2008 in Hall 9 at Feria de Madrid. This event has consolidated its appeal over the last four years and is complemented by EXPORECLAM, the other grand event within this field, which will take place at IFEMA´s facilities for the first time between 13th and 15th February next. The favourable climate that currently exists within the promotional and advertising gift industry justifies the existence of two fairs, events that seek to prepare professionals for the Christmas and summer campaigns, respectively.

Thus, Promogift-08 has established itself as the leading business forum for members of the industry to make the necessary preparations for the Christmas campaign. The fair also presents all the latest new features for the following season, in this case for the year 2009. For its part, the International Advertising and Promotional Gift Show, EXPORECLAM, constitutes the main point of reference in Spain for professionals to discover the latest new features for the summer season.

IFEMA and Reed Exhibition Iberia, the organisers of both these trade fairs, have reached an agreement in the interests of the industry, ensuring the successful staging of both events. This agreement also encompasses the two leading business associations within the field, AIMFAP, the Association of Importers, Wholesalers and Manufacturers of Promotional Items, and FYVAR, the Association of Advertising Gift Manufacturers and Sellers.

Furthermore, we might highlight the fact that, based on this agreement and on the requests received from the exhibitors themselves, EXPORECLAM will now take place at Feria de Madrid, next February in fact, coinciding with a very special moment in the fair´s history, namely its Twentieth Anniversary.

The sector represented by both PROMOGIFT and EXPORECLAM is currently enjoying a favourable climate, as witnessed by the figures furnished by FYVAR relating to the year 2006. In effect, the industry achieved a turnover in Spain valued at 1,352.20 million euros. There are currently 347 manufacturers and wholesalers operating in Spain, as well as 5,000 distributors.

The industry is progressing equally well in Spain´s neighbouring countries. Thus, for example, in Germany, according to the country´s corresponding association, the advertising industry achieved a sales turnover of more than 3,000 million euros in the year 2006, having enjoyed a significant boom in recent years, especially as a result of the staging of the World Cup two years ago, which provided a considerable boost for the sector. Furthermore, we might highlight the fact that half of all Germany companies use promotional gifts as one of their communication channels.

The fact is that companies are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of advertising gifts, as confirmed by the President of the powerful Advertising Specialty Institute, ASI, in the United States, Timothy M. Andrews, on his website ´Tim´s Blog´, when he states that ´ASI distributors and suppliers constantly declare that items printed with a logo (T-shirts, pens, USB pen-drives, etc) have a greater impact on recipients. Printing costs are very reasonable, which entails a very favourable investment for the marketing industry´. In fact, Andrews himself recognises the strong growth that this industry achieved in the year 2006, based on the performance of the flourishing US economy. This boom translated into a turnover in 2006 of some 18.6 thousand million dollars, which represents an increase of 4.5 per cent compared to the year 2005.

The success of an event such as PROMOGIFT can be explained both by the boom that is currently taking place within the industry and by the progress the fair itself has made over the years. Thus, if we co nsider the figures the fair achieved at its last edition in the year 2007, we can observe that the Promotional Gift Trade Fair brought together some 171 direct exhibitors (including 20 exhibitors from other countries), as well as 110 represented companies, within a net exhibition area measuring 7,832 square metres. Furthermore, the fair welcomed a total of 5,429 professionals belonging to 2,622 companies.

In this respect, we must recall that PROMOGIFT is an event staged exclusively for the trade and that it is aimed at a small group of professionals and intermediaries working within the advertising and promotional gift sector. These professionals attend the fair by invitation only.

In this respect, PROMOGIFT-08 will once again confirm its status as an important and highly profitable meeting-point for demand, represented by these professionals, and supply, represented by the best manufacturers, distributors and importers operating within the advertising and promotional gift industry. The event will take place between 1st and 3rd September at Feria de Madrid.
