Ingres Honours Key Partners For Outstanding Contributions

Ingres Corporation, a leading provider of open source database management software and support services, announced its 2008 Partner Excellence Award winners. The value of strong partnerships to create and promote innovative solutions is central to the business of Ingres. The company recognised key partners for their outstanding efforts and commitment to deploy solutions based on Ingres technology, the open source business model and for innovative thought-leadership. The awards were formally announced last night at the first annual Ingres Partner Summit held in Prague, Czech Republic.

"Ingres considers partnerships to be a vital element in creating disruptive technology that emphasises reliability and ease-of-use. The company's forward-looking partner programme sees collaboration as the way to enable enterprises to have easy access to highly integrated solutions and the flexibility of the open source business model, " said Steve Shine, executive vice president of worldwide sales and services at Ingres. "We had a wide choice of partners showing outstanding qualities. We concentrated on choosing the partners that showed the most dedication on leveraging new technology and solutions and that are leaders in their fields".

Ingres honoured partners in the following three categories:

Global Partner of the Year – Infor: This award distinguishes the partner with the most overall leadership in developing solutions based on Ingres open source technology, as well as showing visible commitment to innovation. Infor is recognised as the 2008 Global Partner of the Year. Infor is one of the largest global providers of business software. With experience built in, Infor's solutions enable businesses of all sizes to be more enterprising and adapt to the rapid changes of a global marketplace. Infor and Ingres collaborated to develop Unicode technology for Infor ERP Adage, which enables Adage to run on languages specific to Asian countries. Infor is also working on certifying Adage to run on the Ingres Database. Together, Infor and Ingres provide a flexible and reliable architecture to cost-effectively meet the needs of an ever-changing business environment.

Best Contribution to Open Source – Ancud IT: This award honours the partner that has shown prominent contribution to the open source community and outstanding commitment to promoting the open source business model for customer-centric innovations. Ancud IT, a German consulting, system integration and software company, is recognised as the 2008 Best Contributor to Open Source. Ancud IT provides solutions based on products from leading enterprise open source vendors such as Ingres, Alfresco, Liferay, Pentaho and Intalio.

With these solutions companies can meet their business and IT needs with collaborative enterprise portals, business process management, business intelligence, information management and document management. Together with its new partners, Alfresco and Ingres, Ancud IT will deliver open source solution stacks for enterprise use. Development and delivery of the stacks is part of the partnership between the Nuremberg-based portal provider, Alfresco and Ingres. Ingres and Alfresco will contribute their technological knowledge in the fields of open source information management and enterprise content management. Ancud IT will address implementation and support needs in the area of open source portals and enterprise applications.

Most Promising Newcomer – SpagoBI: This award distinguishes a recent partner that shows the most potential to make significant contributions to solutions built on Ingres and to the open source community, as well as outstanding thought-leadership. SpagoBI is the 2008 Most Promising Newcomer. Engineering Ingegneria Informatica, Italy's leading IT services company, and Ingres recently announced that SpagoBI and Ingres have combined technologies to strengthen their joint open source business intelligence offering. Under the terms of the agreement, SpagoBI and Ingres have certified each other's products in order to strengthen their open source business intelligence solutions at the enterprise level. Engineering Ingegneria Informatica is the first and leading systems integrator in Italy specialising in software engineering and offering integrated and customised IT services and solutions.
