National Manufacturing Week 2008

National Manufacturing Week (NMW) 2008 will incorporate an integrated Logistics, Materials Handling & Distribution pavilion at the Sydney Exhibition & Convention Centre, Darling Harbour in May. Owned and organised by Reed Exhibitions, NMW 2008 – Australia's only annual integrated manufacturing exhibition – will be held from Tuesday May 27 to Friday May 30. NMW's Logistics, Materials Handling & Distribution (LMHD) pavilion will showcase all the important aspects of logistics, materials handling and distribution, from raw materials to production, through to warehousing.

It will include a comprehensive range of products, services and technologies from Australia and overseas, aimed at making it easy for Australia's manufacturing industry decisionmakers to source the latest logistics, materials handling and distribution solutions for their business.

NMW as a whole covers every major aspect of the manufacturing sector – from all manufacturing functions, to materials handling and end-product supply chain activities – in a fully integrated event.

It not only incorporates an exhibition, but will also include seminars and information sessions, as well as related industry association forums and meetings.

According to John Gorton, Reed Exhibitions's director – industrial events, the move to integrate the LMHD pavilion fully within NMW will benefit exhibitors and visitors alike.

"LMHD is totally owned by Reed Exhibitions, allowing exhibitors to take advantage of Reed Exhibitions' complete range of services, including professional marketing, award-winning pre-show service, auditing of visitor numbers and detailed post-show reports.

"At all times, we are fully accountable to exhibitors, providing them the highest levels of service, assistance and professional advice to ensure their participation at LMHD and NMW is as successful as it can possibly be, " he said.

"Visitor surveys at previous editions of NMW indicate that 8-9% of visitors come along to look at materials handling and logistics related equipment and services.

"For visitors, it means a 'one-stop-show' where they can view the latest manufacturing technology and trends, including the most up-to-date developments in logistics and supply chain solutions."

In July this year, Reed Exhibitions announced that Manufacturing Technology In Focus (MTIF) – and its associated events Automate, Austronics and Electrix – would be incorporated within NMW from 2008, providing Australia's manufacturing industry with a single event servicing the entire sector.

Pavilions at NMW, in addition to LMHD, will include AIEE (general manufacturing), Air Technology, Austech (machine tools – organised by AMTIL), Austronics (electronics industry exhibition), Automation & Robotics, CIMTech (computer technology), Electrix (electrical industry), Health & Safety, ICEX (process, control & instrumentation), WeldTech (welding, joining and heat-treatment equipment).
